I didn't hate DA:2. I give it a 7/8 but it could have been a better had it not been rushed.

ACT 3 was a mess.

She didn't say Skyrim was antiquated. She said that the voiceless protagonist was antiquated. Which it technically is though, of course, it is all a matter of opinion. She also said that the romances are cheap and shoddy, which they are. Granted, there are more romance options in Skyrim than there are in any Bioware game, but those romances break down to buying an amulet, talking to someone who flirts with you, engaging in a five minute sidequest before unlocking a new shop and a minor income source.

Of course, I think the silent protagonist works well in TES games. Mostly because the PC isn't really a character, but instead is designed to be an avatar for the player. Same reason those games are really designed to be played in first person.

By the way, to my tastes, Deus Ex is the best game in that list. But! In terms of RPG, maybe Skyrim offered a better experience. Anyway, I don't like Bethesda's way to develop RPGs.

Dragon Age 2 shouldn't have even been nominated. It doesn't deserve to be on the same list as Skyrim and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Those games aren't just 'good', they're superb. Dragon Age 2 is arguably on the higher end of "okay, I guess", but it would be nigh impossible to make a good case for it being better than Skyrim.

While Dragon Age 2 features a new world record in the 'Corners Cut', 'Terrible Graphics' and 'Terrible Marketing' catagories over at Guinness (that's a joke, folks, calm down), Skyrim is on the exact opposite of the spectrum. Every inch of Skyrim screams boundless ambition and attention to detail. Dragon Age 2 merits one, perhaps two playthroughs that will last perhaps twenty hours each. In Skyrim you can play for a hundred hours and never touch the main quest, and never want to.

If Dragon Age 2 counts as an RPG, so does Deus Ex. Choices matter a lot more in Deus Ex.

I'm wondering why the people who think Skyrim and Witcher2 are so much better than DA2 are on these forums? We seem to get a lot of them, but they would be better off on the CDProject, or Bethesda forums where they could praise their games, and leave us alone... unless they just like to come here to troll and dis DA2.

We do this coz we love the DA universe and hope one day for a game in this universe that truly deserves GOTY. DA2 is not that game

Skyrim's the highest rated RPG now, and the revenue they've made off sales is already almost equal to what EA paid for Bioware. It's going to rack up every award.

Looking at the options I'm giving it to Skyrim, but the fact that DA2 is there and TW2 is not is highway robbery.

Then again, the VGA's don't really matter. But for a gamer's pride, hahahahaha.

TW2 was not released on multiple platforms and therefore is not eligible for RPG of the year.

It is listed for PC game of the year.

I'll give you characters, which was the only saving grace in Dragon Age 2, in my view. 

Story? Nah. Skyrim has a fairly bland story, but it never gets audience-insultingly stupid the way the third act in Dragon Age 2 got.

Skyrim: Poor programming. It should not win.

Dragon Age II: Poor design and writing. (Just think of the wasted potential because the game does not recognize Hawke as blood mage.) It should not win.

Dark Souls does not have a PC version. It should not win.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Good programming. Good design. It should win.
