Does the term Fus Ro Dah mean nothing to you?

That's entirely different. Might as well say the PC was 'voice-acted' in Oblivion because he grunts when getting hit, which is misleading to say the least.

The Warden (Silent PC) also gets those kind of grunts... Just saying.

Really? DA2 Better than Skyrim? To each his own.. but I can't think of a single thing DA2 does better than Skyrim.. or the Witcher 2, which was strangely omitted.

Skyrim's the highest rated RPG now, and the revenue they've made off sales is already almost equal to what EA paid for Bioware. It's going to rack up every award.

Is it the highest rated RPG? No. Not from what I've seen and the hundreds of bugs contained within it only makes it trash in my eyes. Dark Souls ate Skyrim's face off back in October and now it's in the process of eating the rotting dead corpse of Skyrim while Dragon's Dogma, Kingdoms of Amalur and Mass Effect 3 line up to drink its blood afterwards.

Dark Souls will not be topped for years. The experience it offered was original and I truly felt like I was playing an old RPG again. Skyrim never came close and never even had a hope. It was doomed when they announced it.

BTW:

Skyrim: 9/10 Gamespot.

Dark Souls: 9.5 Gamespot.

We know which game is going to be winning Gamespot's RPG of the year award. So that's already Skyrim beaten on one top review site.

Dragon Age used to be a good franchise, but then it took an arrow in the knee.

I do have to agree with this. Skyrim is a great game and an improvement over its predecessor, however there are still many aspects about Morrowind that I consider superior.  And Skyrim, in my opinion, has one of the most bland narratives to come to RPG gaming, at least as far as the main quest is concerned. For all its other flaws, I actually enjoyed the character of Martin Septim and aspects of the main narrative in Oblivion.

This thread is useless now, it's over. Skyrim wins the best studio and the best rpg. DA2 didn't win anything. Too bad for Bioware, but it's a good thing for players. We shouldn't help games rushed to win awards. That's a wrong message.

I still find it odd that while DA2 wasnt as bad as some say, its odd that it was nominated and Witcher 2 wasnt.

Still, Skyrim was deserved winner.

Like the buggy, broken game that won GOTY, Best RPG and Best Studio?

Yeah, thats a good message.

I'm not the kind of guy who lashes out at people about preferences they have, as that's a stupid thing to do, but...

Fanboys, dang. Come on guys. Get real.

I should probably clarify.

If you enjoyed DA2, by all means, shout it to the World. You're not wrong for liking it, loving it, or thinking its the best game you ever played.

If you did not enjoy Skyrim, or The Witcher 2, or Dark Souls, or Deus Ex Human Revolution, again, you're not wrong. You can shout that too.

But lets be real.

I love Bioware, hell I have friends who work there, and even I will claim DA2 is baaaad.

It was a rushed mess. It WAS NOT horrible, lets be honest, but it did NOT meet the quality of game expected of Bioware, and that exacerbates the negative opinions people have of it.

Skyrim blew a ton of people away. Same with The Witcher 2. Same with Dark Souls. Less so for Deus Ex Human Revolution, but the game itself was well crafted and succeeded.

I never played TW2 as I game on consoles, I never played Dark Souls as I'm a 360 gamer, but I did play DXHR, Skyrim, and DA2.

And out of the three, DA2 is dead last for any award unless there's some gaming equivalent of the Razzies out there.

If we look at the games not as fans but as pure critics, forgetting everything about loyalty and just looking at the games as a whole, I can't see why anyone would vote for DA2.

I need an explanation for that. Well thought out and reasonable.

I've only had crash to desktop a few times. Most bugs are from the console versions.
And even with bugs its leagues better than DA2.

I don't know if I should be honored by this, or insulted.

I has nothing to do with fanboyism, if I had my way Deus Ex would have won best RPG this year because of the choices given, it was the most immersive.

And let's face it, no game is ever perfect, but the fact that several versions of Skyrim are still not working properly on several consoles and the skill tree system in-game is completely broken should be a cause for concern. At least to me.

And a word of advice. Don't jump the gun so quickly, it makes you look like an ****.

And on the subject of Skyrim's bugs, I have rarely ran into any bugs on my 360 version. Its been very good to me.

From what I've heard, its the PS3 guys having most bug issues. Hope everything gets worked out for them and anyone else who's ran into a mess of bugs, hah.

But yes, even IF Skyrim had a ton of bugs, it'd still be lightyears over DA2. And that's coming from someone who's first Elder Scrolls game is Skyrim.

Fun fact- I only bought Skyrim because I was disappointed in DA2 and felt the need to get my RPG fix from another franchise should future DA games be that bad.

I have not seen any bugs on my xbox, some had got some bugs before the patch 3 among my friends, but now it's good for them. An,d the bugs are nothing compared to Da2 at the beginning.

The problem is not just the bugs as I said, it's the exploitation of the broken skill system. Something that has annoyed me to no end since Daggerfall honestly.

What I mean by this is the fact that the new skill trees are unbalanced, favor only two viable strategies in-game via full on combat, or full on enchanting/smithing (which honestly is how you break the game anyway...) and then some skill trees are completely pointless, like pickpocketing and lockpicking, because they serve little function outside of a few quests, and are rendered useless by in-game rewards.

Skyrim is basically not a balanced game, and not even an immersive one to boot, but thats another issue all together and will just open up a bigger can of worms.

But to each their own, as you said. Point though is still the same, considering how much it really did win this year.

I don't think that will ever work as a strategy. People have different gaming preferences. In large part, that's why I consider numerical rankings for games to be so useless; the critic's written opinion usually is a much better indicator of what is good/bad about a game and whether it might interest someone.

Much as we like the thought, I don't think we can separate the idea of bias and our conception of any game as "the best". I for example would give the GOTY spot to either Portal 2 or Deus Ex:HR (Skryim would be my third pick), but others clearly disagree. It's always going to be a matter of what you like about the game and whether its changes appeal to you. From that perspective, DA2 can easily be someone's GOTY.

Oh, I was very immersed into Skyrim. Same with DXHR.

Same with DA2 at first, but then it waned down as the negatives added up. Little things started to kill it for me, like the character's bony hands(that cutscene where Isabella raises her hands up to her face and you get a good close up of them pretty much kills me).

I think immersion is down to personal preference, ya know?

Ah, now your being a vindictive, narrow minded little cloaca. Good to see we have evolved  to being civil in this dicsussion. I can't help but bother to educate people, it's my real life job too.

I agree, but I got to ask, have you ever played Elder Scrolls before Skyrim?

I mean, I have enjoyed the series a lot since Daggerfall back in the late 1990's, so I guess my perception of the games lore, timeline, and immersive style is a bit colored by that fact. Skyrim is a bit dissapointing in that department when compared to other games in the series, but again it would take a long winded explaination to say why.

Maybe man, maybe. Good thing to think about.

In the end its all based on opinion, so there will always be variances from person to person.

Well im rather pleased about the result..I mean lets face it...DA 2 was rushed and EA did snub one of the biggest digital providers out there.(anyone here get the early pre-order on steam{pre jan 11})
