http://www.spike.com...voting/best-rpg.Yeah what do you think,I think it was better than skyim, and that Dragon age 2 needs to win so vote guys

hahahahaha

If DA2 won best RPG I'd cut my bollocks off and eat them.

I'll get you a nice rusty knife then as most stores are noe selling skyrim at HALF yes HALF PRICE so obviously its a crap game :D

Used console copies are half off unless it's a sale item for them.
Skyrim already won GOTY and RPG of the year. On top of this Skyrim sold more than DA2 overall in just one week.

Although I know your comment is blatent trolling.

Skyrim won which is no surprise to anyone but it would have been nice if TW2 was included in the nominations.

Speaking of which, I can't wait for Skyrim DLC. Hopefully an expansion in the future.

Perhaps Skyrim will earn DLC of the year next year.

Although to be fair, I'd hope ME3 would take that honor, hah.

Yeah, I think that's all anyone wanted as far as TW2 is concerned.

Personally, I would've been fine whether it won or lost(although I would've gone with Skyrim since I actually played it).

I just think its super bogus that it wasn't even nominated.

I don't get Skyrim. I find it tedious, unfocused, and somewhat soulless. Dragon Age has a better story, wonderful characters, and a more focused, personal role playing experience. But that's my opinion. Skyrim is living off this massive hype...and I'm not sure it's entirely deserved. That's my take on it. But, as a writer myself, I like to be engaged with characterization and a the little nuances in the character interaction DA 2. But I realize I'm in ithe minority. I feel like Dragon Age 2 has become an unfair punching bag, and it never had the hype of Skyrim. But to each their own.

From what i heard, TW2 wasnt nominated on best RPG because it whas an PC exclusive game.

What makes no sense, seen that Uncharted was nominated for best action adventure and it is also an exclusive.

That's an understandable opinion, and very valid.

Yes, Skyrim had a lot of hype. Personally I didn't care for the hype as it was my first TES game, but it blew me the hell away.

Last time I got that feeling from an RPG was DAO.

The whole "TW2 is PC exclusive so it was not nominated" is a bad excuse tbh. Both Uncharted 3 and Legend of Zelda:Skyward Sword where nominated and they are only for one system.

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. I'm pinning it on the popularity of CD Projekt Red compared to say, Bioware and Bethesda.

But even then, its still ridiculous.

So is DA2.

And TW 2.

And Deus Ex HR.

And pretty much ALL the "rpgs" that come out these days. Even the latest Final Fantasy was more Action RPG than RPG.

I think skyrim should beat da2 :/

I suppose is all about taste, skyrim I have it, and I am so bored of that game.... killed 1 dragon is that all we do? kill the dragons for? Because? why? I have Oblivion but didn't play it, is a horrible game eww.. so I have very little knowledge of that world. I know pathetic!..
I think Skyrim even though is a huge game has nothing in there  asking to be saved or for you to fight for .. is just huge space with pretty scenery but empty of  the feels of what  make you want to save it or fight for, the companion is annoying as hell, clearing her throat every 1-2 minutes dies faster that isabela without pants! even when she has the best armor and weapon from the game? yes! i had to cheat the freaking game and get the best items for that stupid companion, she still dies thought.. meh. Not sure what Skyrim is all about but i'll never going to find out and I believe that I wasted $70 dollards ( with tax) on that game.:(

To me both DA games are way better that skyrim will ever be but again thats  my opinion:)

Loved DA2, but Skyrim was better. Deus Ex was good, The Witcher 2 sucked.

Whether or not you liked TW2 doesn't matter, the sheer quality of the game tramples  DA2 and rivals Skyrim, it's a shame the VGA's aren't actually a legitimate award ceremony.

I would have liked to see TW2 get something, but not sure what.  As an RPG it suffers from the fact that you're playing a set character.  To me that makes it- well, not an RPG.  As a PC game...  okay, I'd like to say I'd give it that, but the menus are so horrible and obviously consolized, even worse than Skyrim and DA2 which have the same problem.  So it'd be hard for me to reward a game that made so little effort to optimize for mouse-keyboard as PC game.

Most sexual game of the year.

DA2 was okay but yes I'd preferred Skyrim over it.

not sure about TW2 because I didn't play it. Too much lag on my system. I guess I'll try it again when I have a desktop.

Depending on how Action-rpg is defined anything from Baldur's Gate 1 to now could be called an action-rpg. If in the defintion you include real time combat with pause.

@Mr House.

The very definition of a RPG is that it allows YOU to assume the Role of the Player Character and gives you control of that character as much as possible.
That is what makes an RPG; everything else is merely conventions that were applied to the medium in order to make it playable.

Dragon Age 2 strips away a LOT of the control from the player; enough that it is more of an Action RPG (given that it has some pretty strong Action Elements) than a pure RPG. Dragon Age Origins by contrast goes out of its way to give the player control in as many situations as it can; thats what makes it an RPG. More of an RPG than DA2.

Sharing a name and universe does not put them in the same genre.

I am also not getting down on DA2 for being more actiony than DAO. It just is.

No it does not. A Cousland can not drag his mom away or stay to defend them, a Dalish can not get her "cure" then run away and go back to her clan ect. There was alot of restrictions to the character, just because you could pick your race and Origin that gave you one hour of diffrence and little dialog change is not enough. If DA2 is an action RPG, then so is DAO.

I always thought that action rpg is when the player's aptitude at aiming determines the effectiveness of attacking more than the stats do.

There's that, but it also refers to more fast-paced focuses on combat, which require player reflexes. Kingdom Hearts, Diablo, Jade Empire, etc, depending on whom you talk to, are examples of the action-RPG genre, since they all depend on the player aiming/dodging attacks. In general, the thing they all  have in common is a greater emphasis on player skill.
