Hi. I got ME2 for free from EA over Origins because the failed to give me early access to the BF3 Beta.
While installing it from Origins I could not choose the language option german so I had to install it in english with the hope that I could change the language afterwards but that didn't exactly work out.
Is there any way that I could install this game with the german language pack or is there any way I could download a fix of some sort for this issue?
Can't change language options to German

Maybe this will help:
Source: filenetworks.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-to-change-language-in-mass-effect-2.html
- Browse to your Mass Effect 2 installation directory and look in the ‘data’ folder.
- Open
sku.ini file with a text editor such as Notepad. Make a backup of this
file before you alter it – this way you can revert to original if
anything goes wrong. - Edit the [SKU] section of the file so that it looks like the text below:
[SKU]
SKU=
VOLanguage=DE
TextLanguage=DE - Save and close the configuration editor.
- FR - French
- IT - Italian
- DE - German
- SP - Spanish
- INT – English

Thank you but this doesn't work. http://i.imgur.com/ZjL8F.jpg
It seems as if the language files are missing. When I start to play the game all the texts are missing in the elevator of the normandy and some buttons don't even show up.

Oh, I've had that problem too when I wanted to improve my German. I honestly have no idea how to fix this. You may have to send an email to EA customer support (which is a bit of a nightmare, they won't understand what you're talking about).
I'm gonna test this myself in a minute to see if I have the same problem.
Edit: Seems this fix doesn't work at all. I tried changing both variables to DE and got the same problem as you (can't even load the game because I have English DLC installed). Just changing the VO language but not the text language boots the game but everything is still in English.
Changing the variables only works if the language files are on your PC. I'll see if I can find download links. Apparently you can change the language options when installing but only if you use setup.exe instead of autorun. This is the disc version so I don't know how that works on Origin.
Edit 2: I found a torrent with the language pack but it has no seeders so there's no point downloading that.
Edit 3: I found a 'German.rar' on my installation disc. Is that rar file anywhere on your PC after you downloaded form Origin? I copied the BioGame folder from the German.rar archive and merged it with the existing folder. Then I edited SKU again as described in my first reply.
Edit 4: Doesn't work.

Here's another fix to get German subtitltes and menus. Speech will still be in English. I'll keep looking for a fix.
In the folder Mass Effect 2 -> BioGame -> cookedPC there are tlk files. There should be a 'BIOGame_Int.tlk'. Make a backup of that or just rename it 'BIOGame_Int_backup.tlk'. Then see if you have 'BIOGame_DEU.tlk' in the same folder and rename that 'BIOGame_Int.tlk'. This way the game thinks the German text file is the English one.
You don't have to alter the language variables in the SKU file I mentioned in my first reply. Just make sure it's all still INT.
If you don't have BIOGame_DEU.tlk, send me a PM with your email adress and I'll email it to you.
Edit 2: I completely forgot to check Disc 2. Just a moment.... Edit 3: No German files on Disc 2 so I didn't miss anything.
Note: I'm assuming Origin downloads all the same files I can find on my disc.
Edit 3: I tried many fixes I googled and none of thems eem to work. I'd say uninstall the game and instead of installing it trhough Origin, look for the setup.exe file that must be stored somewhere on your PC. This allows me to change the language of installation.

Thank you for all the work!
I just checked the Installer folder under "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 2\\__Installer\\DISK1\\ldata".
The language folders I have there are cs, en-us, es, hu, ru. So no german files.

Do you need the German tlk files to get German text and subtitles? In that case just give me your email adress and I'll send you the file.
By the way, the German files are not supposed to be in the folder you mentioned but in the fodler where Origin downloads all files before you install them. I helped a friend out recently and it downloads all the files you can usually find on the disc to a download folder. To be honest I have no idea where that is and it's possible they delete it after installation because I can't find the setup for a game I downloaded through Origin.
