I like Bioware and I like Command and Conquer. I just wonder if this will be like one of those rare combination like chocolate and peanut butter, or any one of a number of dreadful combinations.

Well I don't think Bioware can tack on their Mass Effect dialogue system onto C&C like they do with all their recent two IP's ME and DA or bring in LI's and companions, so I don't think will feel like a Bioware game in first place. However I have to admit I like the strategy genre so I'm glad was RTS (though prefer TBS) instead of FPS. But like said earlier the comparison between EA>Westwood (C&C) now EA>Bioware(C&C) is bit to close for comfort.

RTS? Nope. This'll be the first BioWare game I skip (assuming I do pick up SWTOR after launch). There are two things I don't want to hear associated with BioWare: "new direction" and "new genre." The RPG market is so microscopic as it is. BioWare makes pretty much the best story-driven games out there (insert obligatory "in my opinion" here). I'd much rather see them continue that tradition than go somewhere completely different.

How many copies do they want to sell ?

Hahaha this game is going to fail so hard ...

There's always work arounds.

Nope.  BF3 literally has no DX9 path (and runs like crap on DX10 too -- you really need DX11).

And no, it's not going to fail.

Played C&C Generals back in the day... it was a poorly done RTS... and thats coming from a StarCraft fan, a C&C and Red Alert fan too.... Generals just never felt right.

Unless they've done a lot infuse the RTS genre with new life I see no appeal here... this will likely be my first Bioware game I don't buy since I first started playing their stuff in 1992.

Anyhow, hopefully the diehard RTS fans fine something good here though... for me, it was extremely underwhelming... wanted a new IP... not a revived IP that was a rotting corpse.

I am at that same place. I did not like Generals. I am waiting to see some more about it.

And for those going "omg this is not a BioWare game"   Learn something before opening your mouth.

From the interview at Gamespot, it sounds like they had a very clear vision on the direction for Generals 2. Going back to the roots, Frostbite 2 kickass graphics, over the top action, and additonally more gritty story. Doubt I'll play it though. Doubt they'll pull off a good story that me as a traditional Bioware lover would enjoy. I always loved Bioware as who they are, but now they're expanding and acquiring studios left and right, imparting their values around. As long as the Edmonton studio maintain their traditional values in the games they make, I'm okay.

Well this is about the least interesting Bioware news I've heard to date. Certainly not worth the buildup.

this is a no buy for me, I don't do strategy games except total war.
I don't buy games, just because it's a developer I like, though I might be more inclined.
honestly just because you slab a high quality label on something does not automatically make them awesome, and no you shouldn't judge them on Bioware's previous pedigree. Bioware LA needs to prove themselves. on their own two feet.

Will there be gay romances between China, USA, and the GLA?

I was looking forward to an actual trailer instead of...what they spat out. No R Lee Ermey walking into a room with FemHawke, Shepard, and a SWTOR Jedi and dressing them down? He could make fun of Hawke for "smearing goat blood" on her nose to make her look tough, while he could make fun of Mass Effect's storyline, with  "eldritch robot aliens" being nothing to what he's seen. "You think your little glowstick scares me, you bathrobe-wearing twit?" he would bark at the Jedi.

No PC gamer worth their salt is going to still be running XP. Seriously, 8 is around the corner. XP is two OS's ago. Whether you can argue the relative merits of each OS or not, there's a point where you kinda have to move on. When your OS is over a decade old, that's probably the time to move on.

As for the C&C Generals... I played a little C&C back in the day, but it was never my thing. I don't like modern settings, I definitely don't like militaristic games, and I seriously don't like modern militaristic games.

Starcraft, Rise of Nations, Total War... I'd take almost any RTS, even Age of Empires, over C&C. *shrug*

Never played Generals.

This is not even on my radar.

Fixed that for you.

And I only upgraded to Windows 7 when I got my new PC this fall.

Kudos for you being well behind the tech curve.  Want a cookie?

And you didn't fix, you bastardized.  You missed all about me saying I don't like modern, military, and especially modern military in games.  Company of Heroes you'd have to pay me to play.

Because C&C hasn't been raped enough already lmao XD

Although I'm always open minded, so I'll give it some time before I formulate an opinion

It will be the latter.

If you read all of the recent EA Press Releases,  it becomes obvious Bioware is just a brand being slapped on everything,  rather than an actual studio with an actual style.  EA's buying studios and starting new teams,  and just tucking them all under the Bioware name.

Bioware has about as much identity and about as many qualities as the EA Sports division does at this point.

So some random team,  operating under EA's rules,  is going to create a game with the Bioware brand on it.

Today was a very sad day,  today was the day the last of Bioware's style died a quiet death.  2 years from now,  they'll be as relevant as Origins,  Bullfrog,  Westwood,  and Maxis are now.

I think slapping the Bioware brand on random new studios will hurt them in the long run. Should have just gone with 'Westwood', that would gather some fan attention. Don't really care about the game, C&C hasn't interested me since Tiberian Sun.

It's better than some old tired shooter that the haters were rambling about when the screenshots were released.

If there's one genre that I don't mind seeing Bioware expand on it's the RTS. For too long, the story in those games just sucks... just look at SC2 where the gameplay was great but the writing was just ugh. I give exception to games like Company of Heroes but even then it's still pretty cliched.

And don't forget the best rumored feature: It's going to be released on Origin only. Just 20GB. And what about Kinect for the PC so you can throw bombs and dig for resources with your bare hands? ;)
