I think it's hilarious that the people who dislike the trailer, or Bioware in general lately, can't be happy with just voicing their opinion. It has to be "what's wrong with you guys for liking it?!"

Kiddo, grow up. Maybe it's as good as everyone thinks it is and you're just a bitter individual. Your retarded logic works both ways.

well misery loves company,  because they feel let down they want other people to feel the same

Let's be honest with ourselves, how many of us would get an adrenaline rush looking at a spreadsheet?

Trailer was okay. C&C: G2 reveal is none of my concern. Never cared for C&C.

Anyone else notice ,that the sun from the planet ,looks like sun in the "visions" from protheans? Maybe something to do with dark matter.

That's what Tuchanka's sun has always looked like.  It was the same in ME2:

BTW, this really needed Grunt saying:

"Let's get started, Shepard.  Hit the keystone!"

"@PatrickWeekes Rite of adulthood? No varren. No klixen. Thresher only. Final destination."

Hahaha both comments are golden.  The Smash Bros. reference on the latter made my night...me and my friends were SO serious in Melee that this was literally the only acceptable way to play the game; any deviating configuration would just inevitably cause thrown controllers and fist fights.  Ah, Samus, I used to be proud to have you as my main back in your Metroid Prime days, now I am ashamed of your melodramatic anime-quality "fempower."

LOL now that would be awesome! Don't expect cast list to be discussed before next year.

Because you've lost Michael Beattie's phone number and are still looking? ;)

I think most of my disappointment stems from expectations. When I heard "trailer" I actually thought something more akin to a bunch of various clips illustrating different parts and aspects of the game with some epic music and quotes framing it. This was pretty much just a chunk of cinematics and gameplay illustrating over-the-top action related to only one place and mission. Not really what I'd deem a "trailer" my any means... it's more a slice of a specific piece of the product ripped out and shown, albeit likely sped-up with some bits cut here and there. Simply put: it's really no more a trailer than watching those clips of Anderson and Shepard on Earth and the Sur'kesh demos are trailers.

That said, it has both it's good and, well... not really "bad" moments per se, but perhaps overdone moments. I mean, to get one niggle out the way, how many times are these action moments going to begin with Reapers stomping around and beaming things resulting in Shepard being shaken up and/or crumbling debris sending him rolling down something before resuming gameplay? It was impressive and neat when I first saw it in the Anderson/Earth demo with that shockwave sending them sliding down, but after a similar occurrence in the Legion/On-the-rails demo and now in this so-called trailer, I can it's going to get old fast if it occurs much more in the game. Seems everywhere Shepard goes he/she can expect an earthquake and some tumbling.

My other main beef is basically, "Oh yay... more action, TPS style gameplay. Just what I want to see more of!" </sarcasm> <_<. To be expected to a degree I know, but perhaps this relates to my first point: an actual trailer that illustrated various aspects of the game and not just combat, explosions and Reapers shaking Shepard up would have been more appealing. It's easier to swallow in smaller doses and when peppered with a few other aspects besides "Action! Action! Action!"

That said, the cinematics and transitions are good and well-directed. I did love the initial image of the fighters zooming overhead and the Maw vs. the Reaper was well done. Not too much shaky-cam or 2 second shots, and everything was nice and focused. Good to see the overall style of cinematic direction remains consistent/classic and it hasn't been taken too over-the-top and modernized. I'm still not a fan of these mini-crab tank Reapers because they seem to be the same thing I've seen before in dozens of games lately, but I guess there's not much I can do about that and I'll just have to put up with them. The section of gameplay itself looks kind of interesting (i.e. with Shepard advancing and trying to avoid the deadly red beams and Reaper feet), but I'd have to actually feel how it plays and experience it directly to really judge it. I can see from the style it could either be really fun, or fall victim to being annoying, depending on execution. It'll depend on how random or scripted the section is, and how punishing it can be or not. Too on-the-rails and predictable and it doesn't feel dynamic, but too random and punishing and it becomes frustrating. It'll be interesting to see how it balances.

So, overall, a tad disappointing, but nothing that really makes me roll my eyes or rage. Again, largely due to expectations I admit, but while it impressed me somewhat with some neat moments, it didn't outright "Wow!" me overall. Perhaps if the Reaper vs. Maw thing hadn't been spoiled right at the start of ME3's advertising in the Gameinformer article it would have been a different story. That said, at least when they show this, I'm not being spoiled with anything massively awesome prior to playing I had no prior knowledge to. It's both a blessing and curse in that regard, but overall I think I'd rather be surprised and "wowed!" in the game itself rather than by a trailer (sorry... "trailer").

Two questions:

1) Was anything else of worthy note announced at VGAs? (ME3 stuff?)
2) What ships do you guys think were shooting at the Reaper?

I am glad to see someone else is thinking the same. It can be a nice suprise to have Shepard fall down, but if it continues to happen every single mission it will get silly.

If anyone noticed when Shepard arrived to the console he gained xp.
Does this mean ME3 willl have experience points like ME1 did? I sure hope so.

Mega Reaper vs Thresher Maw

A new film from The Asylum, the makers of Citadel.

To be honest though the trailer didn't do much for me. Although neither did any of the other trailers.

Probably just the same VA.  That happens quite a bit with incidental characters.

It wasnt very Mass Effect. More of just a dirty shooter using sci fi as a backdrop. No spaciness, no strange world, no sleek shiny technology, no emphasis on lore and characters and mysterious conversations with synth beats getting your heart rate up, no fog horn sunrise at the end. On the bright side, it is a graphical improvement. Too bad it is all shooter perspective marketing so I can't see the worlds and people and cities that capture the Mass Effect universe where it started. Just a bunch of gritty world-in-flames scenes.

That's pretty much it. I couldn't quite place exactly why I was so unimpressed, but that was it: it could easily have been any shooter game ever produced and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

the problem is that  it's getting to that point where studios are now finding hard to make innotive shooters or rpg's now because ether it has already been done before or  Fps or rpg games are getting  close to the limit on being fresh and new, if you know what i mean. i disagree with it not being mass effect.

Mass Effect is a trilogy. It should not have the same goals as a new IP. It should be progress over the main elements that we were directed at in the previous titles. Thresher Maw eats Reaper would not be marketed for an entrie trailer if this event had occurred in the previous two games because those "Michael Bay" scenes, as someone noted, are not the focus of Mass Effect. Therefore, either the marketing is wrong in depicting this as a shooter with a sci fi backdrop, or something has gone terribly wrong with the main content of the game.
