Umm... a detailed walkthrough of the game showcasing some of the new features? BioWare could have released something like that by now. Maybe not at the VGA's, but before or after. It would be a whole lot better than yet ANOTHER generic action sequence.

Considering that would be spoiler heavy they are only going to show it to you on the same map like last time.

Now you ask why they don't just show the same maps again but make it more detailed? Oh I don't know maybe because they have demo coming out in Januarary so you can play it yourself?

Another Mass Effect trailer, more linearity and shooting.

Don't even recognise the game as an RPG anymore, Bioware is not even pretending any more.

That trailer was also cut up like hell. Had at least a dozen cuts in both the gameplay segments and the cutscenes.

By the way, just because they aren't showing it in a official trailer (God forbid that one looks somewhere else before ranting, right?) doesn't mean that it's completely absent from the game.

Once again I learn that I should never be amazed at what the BSN will b**** about. For those of you who are so disappointed with this trailer, what exactly could they have shown that would've made you happy? Keeping in mind that 1) this is a game about the galaxy-wide war that the entire series has been building up to and 2) it was for mass-consumption, not the relatively tiny cadre of RPG heads who, apparently, would rather spend this war for their survival roaming around to random planets and chatting up strangers.

Haven't they done that already? I mean, we've seen the new melee attacks, the new shielded enemies, e3 demo had the new roll/cover features and the new weapon/power progression system. How would you even put some of that stuff into a TRAILER?

I am NOT a BioWare apologist. In fact, I was very close to bailing on the bsn and the game when they announced multiplayer. But I have a hard time grasping why people are complaining that a TRAILER has action and drama, rather than inventory screens and random dialogue.

So? There have been plenty of games with walkthroughs that have spoilers.

Really? That's why it sucked? OK then -- what you want is what you want. Were you happy then with the "squad leader" trailer?

Not exactly happy, since it was supposed to show off the gameplay of "squad leader" but in the end didn't really -- you don't get a good idea of what input the player has on their team and such, since it's largely broken down into shots of individuals firing at one another. Even so, it probably came closer to demonstrating what actual gameplay is like, and looked more involving.

They are serious? Because if running like mary hell counts as shooting now, I must get with the times.

Guns and firefights?

In my Mass Effect?

It's more likely that you think.

Start complaining about the lack of RPG elements on the internet forum.

Yep. Check the thread, man. They're serious. I guess they're complaining that the Reaper's shooting. Maybe they'd prefer it served cupcakes instead.

Well I'm sure that would make Shepard's day, at the very least.

Well actually, I do know what a walkthrough is. But MY question, to which you were supposedly responding, was what they could've shown in the trailer to make you happy. Now, I went back and checked my phrasing, and I realize that maybe someone could've interpreted my question to mean "what could they have shown instead of a trailer?" so I'll just brush aside your swipe and ask my original question more plainly. This was a trailer. To run during a TV show. They made that very clear.

Given that, what could they have done with this TRAILER to keep it from being so horrible in your eyes?

Its rather obvious they don't want to show spoilers much at all. Plus wait for the demo then play it. Unless you wait by your computer all day for new info it shouldn't be a long wait.

Yeah, that was pretty stupid. All I know is, when I get to that scene, I'll make sure Shepard is wearing a helmet. That way I can say the armor protected him from the heat produced by the beam. Of course, we also have to keep in mind that the same beam hits a Kodiak shuttle and only destroys one of its engines, sending it plummeting into the ground. At the very least, we can conclude that the "crab" Reapers have weaker weapons than Sovereign's cruiser-killing red beams of death.

To be honest that is freaking hilarious. A weapon that can wipe out military warships easily are likely using some pretty high yield weaponry. Regular personel armor won't protect from even a glancing blow. Its likely that due to the Thanix cannon design (which it uses a magnetic field to direct liquid metal) it won't cause some residual hit damage on a large area . Remember in ME1Sovereigns weapon went straight through Alliance warships literally like butter. Even in gameplay you can see that small Reaper simply core those shuttles. Only residual explosions due to the damage caused a large area of effect explosion.

Also realism in a game that has a magic element able to let people go faster than light speeds by manipulating mass shouldn't be at the top of most expected. ME1 ME2 and ME3 had moments that seemed pretty off realism wise (ME2 more).

Except that wasn't even a glancing blow. The beam did not hit him, at all. If there was any residual heating off of the beam's axis, the armor would have taken care of that. Also, did you read the rest of my post? Sovereign's beams gutted those cruisers effortlessly, sure. However, if you saw the Earth footage from the leaked beta, you would immediately be able to tell that the crab Reaper's weapons aren't nearly as powerful.

Anything other than Shepard fighting reapers again. It's boring and they already did a trailer like this at E3 in June. Every trailer they've released so far for this game has been worse than previous entries. Even their combat trailers have sucked. But really, the way their trailers are set up isn't the problem. I mean, they aren't very good, but passable. The problem is what they're showing in those trailers is just plain boring. It's the same reason I find Transformers to be so boring.

Big monsters/robots fighting each other while the little humans are running around trying to find cover. Yeah... haven't seen that a million ****ing times. Image IPB

Yeah there was only what, 20 seconds of gameplay, if that? In the actual game, it'll probably be more like a few minutes.

If it really worked like you wanted it to it would have easily incinerated most living beings in the area. Ships using that type of weaponry are likely using at the very least low kiloton level weapons. The thing is due to the way it works it only harms whatever it actually hits. Like I said before Sovereign's weapons work the same as the others just on a larger scale. It tears through whatever it actually hits but what it doesn't hit it leaves it unharmed so that Reaper's Thanix cannon won't be able to actually hurt shepard unless it hit him directly or glances him. There is a reason why that Thresher Maw was staying away from the weapon it even forced the Reaper's gun down to the ground.

If it didn't it would have been sliced in half.

I suppose at the very least it would be consistent with the Collector ship's main weapon at the beginning of ME2. It's very effective at slicing through the parts of the Normandy that it hits, but does no damage to Shepard himself, who is standing just a few meters away.

Edit: Hmm, it also occurs to me that we've never seen a Sovereign-type Reaper's main weapon in action. You know, the spinal-mounted mass accelerator? Actually, scratch that. I don't think I want to see that in action....

Action was epic, game is looking great and I love Mass Effect to death just the only thing bothering me and I'm not sure if its bothering anyone else cause I haven't seen a thread on it is the Shepard animation at the end of the trailers, in the beginning it was fine but its kinda getting a little lame, I loved the original Mass Effect Logos with the swift music and the horizon revealing Mass Effect title, so far the "trailers" have been real good but the Mass Effect 1 and 2 trailers were great, just a bit mainstream don't ya think ??

Well that is basically what I assume although I could find people who could argue that realistically Shepard and co would still be fried by the weapon just by being near it. Then again we have people in this game who can manipulate mass to the point of creating a freaking singularity so yeah lol.
