It wasnt very Mass Effect. More of just a dirty shooter using sci fi as a backdrop. No spaciness, no strange world, no sleek shiny technology, no emphasis on lore and characters and mysterious conversations with synth beats getting your heart rate up, no fog horn sunrise at the end. On the bright side, it is a graphical improvement. Too bad it is all shooter perspective marketing so I can't see the worlds and people and cities that capture the Mass Effect universe where it started. Just a bunch of gritty world-in-flames scenes.
Yes, because in a story about a galaxy-wide war and a super soldier at the center of it, we should absolutely expect to be roaming around various star systems Captain Kirk-style, sipping strange ales with various alien species and chatting up the local babes.
Honestly, what is wrong with people?
Oh, silly me. Didn't realize this was going to be Mass Effect minus the exploration and conversations across the galaxy in exchange for a soldier in constant shootouts a la a SHOOTER.
Mass Effect 3 is more than always feeling like you are on a battlefield. You are off if you think we won't see places that aren't being shot up constantly or that each planet will be hit by a Reaper each time you visit. Stop acting like the war has turned every bit of gameplay rightfully into a battlezone mission. There is more to Mass Effect than this war. There are still strange worlds and aliens to meet, and maybe you will still gather information while sipping strange ales. Mass Effect is not a sprint from one battle to the next. If that is how it would work, than the threats in ME1 and ME2 would have required the same nonstop pace from Shepard to save lives.
