Oh no, Shepard interacted with what looked like a box instead of a button to drop a giant hammer into the ground to summon the mother of all thresher maws. THIS IS NOT AN RPG ANYMORE.

Jesus Christ, some people have the most idiotic arguments sometimes.

Are you, errr, joking, because he ran right by the enemies. If you want more scripted dropping-in enemies that you run past so that you can hit a cutscene, I guess that's alright then. A  few years ago, I feel like the devs would've rather been caught dead than design cutscene's around interacting with a box. Look at the shimmering, spooky design of vergil in ME1 (here he is)and tell me how a designer could've decided to go with something cool like that and then also choose to make a box.

edit: Alright, I really think I need to drive this home.

The prothean beacons were pretty plain looking and shepard interacted with them.

Bioware, I have no idea what you've done here. Where went your vision for RPG's with depth? Like, Shepard is *rolling* around stationary enemies in this gameplay, and this was what you chose to show the world. The all-powerful, titanic reapers of Mass Effect 1 are just dead, and it's like you scaled up the model of the turrets from Portal 2. The level ****ing culminated in me running up to touch a BOX. A ****ing BOX? Are you SERIOUS? Who the **** quit the company and doomed you all to go to ****?! Who EVER decided the theme of the game should be ****ing with a box? Someone should've ****ing slapped that designer, but it's sure as hell obvious how much depth is gone into the third installment. You're stripping the richness out of your own world, and I'd rather not buy your game so I might live with just my happy memories.

The thing is sir/ma'am the galaxy is at war, you know the Reaper's were going to arrive at the galaxy eventually for two games, now you have to fight them

I have it on good authority the ME3 release boxes will be rendered entirely from 4084x4048 textures, and features flashing neon lights and a holographic krogan pole dancer. So it's all good, and you won't have to worry about having your entire gameplay experience ruined forever by having to click use whilst facing something boring.

Yeah so anyway, I think its certain that trailer shows Tuchanka. And that tower now, that doesn't really seem to fit with Tuchanka's atmosphere (feeling). Does any one think that Tower is a giant Prothean beacon? Its obliviously important if the reaper is trying to prevent you from reaching it.

That was an awesome trailer. 10/10 Bioware.
Also, I think the tower may be something similar to the keystone, seeing as when he used, the giant thresher maw appeared.

Wait. Are you honestly trying to tell me that Prothean and krogan technology should look a like?

Here's a free tip: Look up Prothean and krogan history, compare them and then look at your comment.

You'll find it to be pretty amusing. I know I did.

I love when threads turn into these little "RPG" arguments.

Some of you do realize that they also have a time limit of what they can show right, to fully express something regarding the story, I believe they would need more time than two minutes, at least to get the full blown experience. Again, it's different with what type of trailer being shown as well (cinematic, gameplay) and what's being shown because certain locations in game can utilize different strengths (like Thane's LM in ME2), but again it all comes down to taste. Each it's own, I was blown away by the sheer size of that segment (it looked like it had a few cut segments form it as well, so I'm expecting more), the music sounds the way I visualized, if that's a good way to put it, and I heard Vega say Holy Sh*t!, so I'm happy.

Edit; Oh and about the "dropped enemies", who says you can't fight them, that's likely showing one possible route of many.

I was kind of hoping for more a story trailer but I suppose that will happen closer to launch. What I saw looked like a hell of a lot of fun though. Thresher vs. Reaper is going to be an interesting fight, though I can't help but wonder why Shepard thinks the thresher is going to do any damage to a Reaper when he and his crew can kill one on foot. Probably just a damn good distraction.

Glad to see Vega in there getting some attention. Could have popped another rarely seen squadmate into Garrus' position just to change it up a bit, but no biggie.

The action looks pretty heartpounding! I was very impressed.  Can't wait to get my hands on it and actually try to navigate that level!

Indeed.

Frankly, I'm just glad to see how much Bioware has been able to increase the scale of these games. They need to nail the scale to pull off the image of a galactic war, and it looks like they're right on the money.

Yes! I'm glad someone mentioned this. This is what impressed me the most about the trailer.

I'd imagine it's some kind of Reaper tower actually.  Though Prothean did cross my mind.

Copied and pasted from me posting in another topic.

I had three primary thoughts while watching:

1. "Garrus! Wooooo!"

2. "Didn't recognize that voice. Probably Vega."

3. "Holy ****. Is that a thresher maw? Did I just see a thresher maw take down that Reaper?! Kick ass!"

That's a good point, and I'd forgotten about it, but I still feel like they're just SUCH different designs, and that this whole idea of making something mysterious and spooky into that little box you see on the trailer is kind of what's been done for everything in the game.

For me, the thing I remember most about the darkness of the reapers are these statues and this cutscene. Now here are the reapers, and it's like a joke. They're actually shooting at the player, and there's no more dark-and-mysterious-machine-ness to it. There isn't a really threatening or forboding element to the reaper attack in the same way as there was before.

I liked the part of the trailer that took place on Tuchanka. ;)

But in all seriousness It just got me jacked up for this game. I know that there are those who have their doubts but hey, haters be damned. More for the rest of us right?

Now I think I'm going to get a thresher maw tattoo...

As much as I detest the why-cannot-BioWare-be-more-like-Bethesda-even-though-they-have-never-made-games-like-Bethesda complaints (by people a quarter my age calling me immature), I will say this:

There was a heck of a lot of cut scene in that video, and only a short run action sequence. Maybe my memory is getting rusty, but was there ever a section in ME2 where we had such a short section between two very long cut scenes?

Thresher Maw (also know as "threshy") for squadmate and LI in Mass Effect 3.
Quick! Someone make the thread. NOW!

Lmao, I want Threshy at the final battle.

Harbinger: "You'll never defeat us Shepard!"
*Shepard rings a bell*
Harbinger: "A bell?!? How is that going to beat me?"
Shepard: "Wait for it..."
*Mass effect field appears and Threshy jumps out of it*
Harbinger: "HOLY MOTHER OF ME!"
*Threshy sacrifices itself to save the galaxy*
*Shepard runs up to threshy as it slowly dies*
*Theshy uses one of its mandibles to carve into the environment: I <3 U and dies*
*Shepard sheds a manly/womanly tear*
Shepard: "NOOOOOO!!!":crying:

LOL!

Altho, it was kinda funny at point in the trailer. When Threshy disappeared back uunderground, and the Reaper was knida lookin' around w/ its lil flash liight head like, "wait...what? where'd he go?"

Then Bam! Threshy busts up from the ground w/ a blood curdling screech right next to Reaper! (as we all know Threshy likes to do)

The reaper snapped its head around like, "Oh, ...Snap!"

Haven't read the entire thread yet, but I wanted to let you guys know that I'm really excited we got to show this particular scene to you. I played the entire level the other week, and it really is fun (and I'm not even the most combat oriented gamer) as well as a nice nod to some canon details from ME1 and ME2. I'll be interested to see what new information clever people might be able to glean from this!

And since we finally got to hear a short comment from James Vega, I thought I'd mention that the voice acting for his character is phenomenal -- can't wait to talk about it more when we reveal the cast list!
