Gameplay was actually really good. They've improved it alot since E3

I don't know what is more entertaining, the trailer itself or these hypocrites who claim that this is nothing like Mass Effect. Really?

In this trailer, Shepard and Co. are advancing towards a Reaper with ships attacking it overhead. After fighting through ground forces, Shepard gets to a panel. After activating it, a cutscene plays in which the Reaper is destroyed.

You guys do realize that this is EXACTLY THE SAME AS HOW MASS EFFECT 1 ENDS, RIGHT???

Hehe... you think the Reaper is going down that easily? ;)

In Mass Effect 3, you take control of Commander Shepard, an elite soldier, and the galaxy's last hope as it faces the greatest threat and dangles on the edge of total annihilation. As Commander Shepard, you will sprint through a variety of cinematic battle zones, triggering scripted events and pushing the A button (when prompted) to achieve victory. They never said it would be easy, soldier.

Anyone expecting a deep, emotional trailer to come out of the Spike VGAs had unrealistic expectations.

Untrue. The trailer showed at last year's VGAs was gripping, emotionally engaging and very much more Mass Effect-like than this one was. But your mileage may vary.

In fact, the trailer for a game called The Last Of Us made that game (whatever it's about) look a lot more appealing and enjoyable.

I don't think it was an improvement, we just never saw it before.

to hell with you cynics. I loved it. What I did not love was that it played super choppy and I had to watch it a few times to get the idea. Also, I'm pretty sure the threshermaw returned to the ground WAY too slowly and the reaper should have been able to blast it. But that's a digression.

Yes. I much perfered the ME3 2010 VGA trailer. However, with the recent story leak, I don't think they wanted to take any chances

Really? It looked like generic zombie game 53488939872540980980954209850554008549, with the zombies having funny heads.

The footage they showed was obviously action-oriented, and for what it was, I thought it looked rather bad-ass.

Bingo. Just gonna make it stand out a tad more.

So much this.

I have yet to see any trailer from VGA that's supposed to set the mood for a story in a game that didn't contain any sort of action.

It's what the people there wants to see. Explosions, gunfights, car chases and all that jazz.

Good look. Good sounds. Good choreography. In the atmosphere department, ME3 is clearly going to pull through.

However, for a "gameplay trailer", there wasn't much gameplay involved. From what I could tell, he sprinted a lot and clicked on a switch. Not impressive.

Yes of course, because in-game cinimatics don't exist.

Oh wait, Portal 2 exists.

Eh, we'll have to agree to disagree then. The Last Of Us trailer just filled me with so many questions: Who are these people? Is that her father? Where are they? What happened to everyone? Are they trying to fix things or are they just running for survival? Are they the main characters in this game or are they just placeholders to get us sucked into the game? What kind of zombies are those? Who was that guy the man just bludgeoned to death? That trailer made me want to play it whereas the ME3 player just made me think that it's just another random generic shooter game that I could pick up at the local game shop's bargain bin.

Don't get me wrong, though. The ME3 trailer wasn't terrible, it just didn't have the same...uniqueness that previous trailers did. It didn't really make me care about anyone or anything in it.

Exact opposite for me.

Last Of Us = Another Zombie Game.

ME3, assuming I'd never touched it before = AGH IT HAS SPACESHIPS AND COOL ALIENS AND ZOMG IT'S LIKE STAR WARS ALMOST AND IT MOVES SO FAST THIS THING LOOKS LIKE A BLAST.

Same here, Cheez. Really didn't care all that much about Last Of Us.

But then, I tend to eye-roll instinctively at anything showcasing zombies. I still have trouble with husks.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're called "the infected" to make up an excuse for them to move fast like in every other zombie game we've seen for the past three years.

Exactly. My problem wasn't with the action. There's nothing wrong with action. My problem was with that entire running "gameplay" sequence being 100% scripted. Looks like ME3 is going to be another push A to win game from Bioware. (looking at you DA2)

The last of us HAD to be like that, new IP and all. ME3 showed us scale because those of us who have followed it haven't really seen a fight this big yet (take that how you want to).

Need fanbase vs. has fanbase
