In Mass Effect 3, you take control of Commander Shepard, an elite soldier, and the galaxy's last hope as it faces the greatest threat and dangles on the edge of total annihilation. As Commander Shepard, you will sprint through a variety of cinematic battle zones, triggering scripted events and pushing the A button (when prompted) to achieve victory. They never said it would be easy, soldier.

Exactly. My problem wasn't with the action. There's nothing wrong with action. My problem was with that entire running "gameplay" sequence being 100% scripted. Looks like ME3 is going to be another push A to win game from Bioware. (looking at you DA2)

You missed all the tweets about the devs b*tching over how hard the levels were, didn't you?

It's a one and a half minute trailer. They probably cut it down to the bare essentials so they could fit in the Thresher Maw/Reaper fight.

It took about 2 minutes to finish the scripted part ffs. The whole of the gameplay won't be scripted.

The only thing I didn't like about the trailer is that 90% of it was spent running

I think BioWare should start showing something else other than action. In my opinion Í think I've seen enough of that. Can't they show some dialogue or something? Also didn't they say there'd be a pulse episode on RPG mechanics? How come that hasn't appeared yet.

They don't count, because the developers are constantly lying to make it look complex. /sarcasm

The reaper would laugh if you shot it. But I guess they could have fired at the brutes.

Their Pulse schedule got ruined by the MP leak, followed by the Beta leak. We might be getting back on track though, since we finally got to see the Pulse episode with Nova in it.

sorry but

as much as I love a game like Skyrim for instance...I feel the lack of at least some scripted events or stepieces of a certain magniture (especially since the animations in skyrim are exceedingly lacking in every respect aside for combat) simply detatches me from the game...... a lot.

That applies to conversations as well....random Convos are cool and fine but they all feel so "cut and paste" without some camera work dammit

I like the fact that ME tries to be cinematic

That explains things, but still I'd prefer to see less action though. I know its probably a marketing strategy to attract potential customers but can't they at least give us one video or something.

Most enemies in ME3 have very devastating melee attacks (like the Banshee, Phantom and Atlas) and that Brute had a giant claw.

It was probably more in Shepard's favor to just run to make it a smooth run.

Well, they couldn't really show off RPG mechanics or story at the VGA's because it would bore the crowd tp watch someone play around with his weapon stats. Besides, action is one of the few things they can show without spoiling the game too much. I even think one of devs said that. They also said they'll have plenty of RPG elements to go with the action. They just haven't shown it yet

That trailer was rad. And to evryone complaining that they should do an RPG mechanic trailer, never go to business or advertising school.

I bet in the actual games the Brutes can hit you there. If they do they'll probably wipe out most of your health.

I agree, it's a good thing. Ans so far, it's impressive. I like this trailer, how it is epic and dynamic.

However during fight and action, they need to avoid this error like in MW2, or Battlefield 3, too scripted. Mw3 is an improvement, the devs listened, less scripted during action.

True. Since action trailers tend to be more interesting and viable, they post those first. They don't spoil the game. Don't worry guys. We'll get our RPG, story, dialogue, etc. trailers soon enoughPosted Image

I can see why people are frustrated but here's how it could run down.

In trailers, stick to action, show off these awsome cinematic moments.

Interviews should spend more time talking about RPG elements; in-game walkthroughs with the devs should follow suit.

RPG mechanics don't even need a video to appreciate, there are still screenshots of the skill trees that show you just as much, and even that could just be written out.

100% agree. Although Bioware's marketing department has never been what anyone would call, "solid."

Well, there's a sticky up from PDesign. Time to discuss the trailer there now. Funny how close we created our threads ( I created mine two minutes before his!)

Here's the link too: http://social.biowar...index/8812650/1

I had three primary thoughts while watching:

1. "Garrus! Wooooo!"

2. "Didn't recognize that voice. Probably Vega."

3. "Holy ****. Is that a thresher maw? Did I just see a thresher maw take down that Reaper?! Kick ass!"

WHY IS THE PLANET THAT WAS DEVASTATED BY SEVERAL GLOBAL NUCLEAR WARS BROWN? IT'S A GEARS OF WAR RIP-OFF, BECAUSE THEY'RE USING THAT COLOR!

I have actually seen arguments that were on that level, and it's quite pathetic, to be brutally honest.

And half of these are from gamers that brag about how they're soo "intelligent" why mispelling words to express their hatred of "EA selling out to tards" etc.

I mean come on guys... Aren't we suppose to be better than this?

If you want people to treat you as intelligent, ACT intelligent. Critics are bad when they just ramble and nitpick for no more reasons than because of personal issues.

Go follow Terror_K's or marsh's example or something.

Just proves my theory that most gamers who were around twelve years old when the first Mass Effect came out have no clie what a video game truly is. Back in 2001 we had a ton of story and character driven games, now we're lucky if there are ten or so games a year which have an amazing story or story driven elements. Unfortunatly the mindset of most people today is the facebook mentality, wanting everything to be social and involved. This leads to things like the shoehorning of MP into ME3, or EA handing over C&C to a new Bioware studio.

Hopefully developers and publishers still realize (Skyrim is a good example) that a lot of gamers (mostly the older crowd) still want engrossing single player stories and games.
