Without consistency there is 0 credibility.

The point is that when he just outright volunteers information, that's not an issue.

Ah I see.  Yeah when he comes out an makes an announcement that isn't a response to anything else, then I think he has a clean track record, good point.

I consider the Brute "confirmation" a response though.  So in this case I am hesitant to believe his words.  Plus he's very dodgy.  He never outright comes out and says, "this is an Elcor reaper."  He just gives hints and implications.  A signature Evil Priestly misdirection.

Probably not. It was however, the most visible high-budget sci-fi action game to name enemies brutes. So once again, comparison not out of line.

Brute is hardly a halo invention or original nomenclature

Oh come on :D it's not like the word isn't a commonly used adjective along everything else.

EDIT: and a noun. Yep.

Brute is the name Bungie gave them, along with Jiralhanae.

Their importance to Halo, and Halo's popularity do tip the scale that way. I've played video games for well over 20 years and never really associated the term with any particular game franchise until Halo 2.

Anecdotal, it may be... but I'd wager it's probably valid.

Brute reminds me of Brutes from Dead Space.
