I don't see what's so ridiculous about Hawke trying to cheer up his sister because she's feeling down about a lot of things, her being a Warden the biggest one that plagues her soul.

It is heartwarming because it shows that Hawke doesn't want Bethany to be sad. That he wants her to remember the good times of her past and to find good times in the future.

i am sorry to say it wasnt heartwarming to me when i saw my lady hawke dancing like that i facepalmed...

I found it heartwarming because even the sarcastic Hawke is still serious sometimes and it's refreshing to see him act a little differently...especially if it's to cheer his/her sister up.

Is there a way to view empirically how much of a Diplomatic/Sarcastic/Aggressive Hawke you have and how many more times choosing another option will change your character's default personality?

There's only one way to know what personality you are. Switch to a companion and talk to Hawke. Whatever he says will tell you what personality you are.

But in terms of numerical values, nope.

@ Arius23 -- I think once you get to Kirkwall and talk to the lead guard with the deserters at the Gallows the personality is set. That is the first time you get a personality specific response on the bottom-left side of the dialog wheel. Once I had a diplomatic Hawke, and out of curiosity I have actually tried to see if I could change it by choosing only tough Hawke for the rest of the next level. Even though I had given only tough responses since the end of the intro, I could still successfully talk down the Dalish werewolf hunters and could not successfully threaten the quartermaster on the docks to reveal the location of the Orleasian cargo.

It has been a while since I did that experiment, so I don't know if one of the patches has fixed it.

You can use the console command "runscript zz_dae show tone" to see the dominate tone and the counts for aggressive, diplomatic and humorous.

To switch tone, you usually have to increase the count on different tone higher to some certain amount over the current dominate tone. Sometimes you have to increase the other tone by 50% more, but I've seen it switch at much less.

At the start of each act, the counts are reset. The previous acts dominate tone count is set to some very low non-zero number, and the other two tones are set to 0. It's really easy to change tones early in each act.
