do you remember the point of any ME2 sidequest?

Yes, all of them.  Which one did you have in mind?

The malfunctioning YMIR, pretty much the only sidequest I found to be truely pointless.

Land on a platform. Throw three switches. Mission done.

A pyjak could have done it.

By the way? What was up with the Pyjak hate in ME 2? Did someone in Bioware have their candy stolen by a monkey as a child or something?

And as far as characterization in ME 1 vs ME 2 goes... I have seen more in depth conversation on these boards devoted to the suspicious-looking spacecow than to any non-team member NPC introduced in ME 2.

Have you seen the amount of discussion that revolves around TIM? Its one of the most talked about things on this forum - any topic related to Cerberus always comes down to people discussing whether they agree with TIM.

Daro'Xen and Kal'Reegar get a fair amount of attention too.  And, of course, Aria T'loak. Matriarch Aethyta's no slouch in the fan-interest department either. In aggregate, there's been a lot of discussion about the various batarians we met as well (crops up whenever someone starts another "I hate batarians" or "Why u no liek batarians?" topic).  Oh, and Wreav vs. Wrex has seen a reasonable amount of discussion.  Then there's the Archer brothers from Overlord, Tela Vasir and the Broker from Lair (I'd count Feron too, but technically, he was introduced before ME2 in the comics), Kenson in Arrival...
