Alright maybe it does. Doesn't make everything in the game perfectly realistic.

And FYI *points at Miranda and Ash* fighting in long hair has a precendent.

Remember that's Cerberus their a quasi civilian paramilitary/terrorist organization ;)

And Shep wasn't reinstated in the military at the beginning of ME3 so why can't he/she have long hair?  Remeber he/she was seen as KIA at the beginning of ME2 and worked with said terrorist organization [S/he went AWOL] all throughtout ME2 and only turned him/herself in at the end of ME2.

So there's no reason for Shep to cut his/her hair until then unless he/she wanted too. And by the time he/she is reinstated hair laws are probably the last thing on his/her mind.

So...there's really little reason for Shep's hair to be short unless you know...the player wants it short. For all we know ME universe doesn't have such regulations. They probably just want it clean/well kept enough to put in a helmet and look presentable.

Blame Bioware. Two he wasn't part of Cerberus, and three I believe he kept most of the Alliance military protocol.

By choice and lack of option to do otherwise (thanks to BW) there's no reason to think he wouldn't do so in ME3 if the player wants.

If you don't like the option. Don't take it. It's that simple.

BW isn't gonna force your Shep to have long hair.

Ah sorry. I thought you were one of those "well since *I* don't don't feel that option fits no one should have it." types sorry for assuming. =]

And on another note noticing ash's hair style in ME3 it could be because she's a Spectre and I think it might still be within military protocol.

Your changing the subject. Facial hair is a different story. In contrast I dont have a problem with standarized facial hair now in the future or in fiction. As long as it doesn't affect your ability in the battlefield and the style is dictated by rank and experience. The reason why most Western military's got rid of it was because of the threat of WMD weapons.

There are plenty of historical examples of long hair in western militaries. The biggest reason for short now being the standard was fleas and lice in the trenches

Your talking to guy who is about to join the military and who is a military science and history nut. I know their are historical example of beards in militaries. The Combat engineers in France are allowed to have beards the U.S. Navy allowed Admirals to have beards in up until the 70's.

You're going to join the Military? That also makes you an idiot.

Im not an encyclopedia ok. Just telling you about real life situations any why I think Bioware did it. Im not trying to make anyone upset.

What Half said.

Shepard is a Spectre, not a grunt in the Gawd Bless-ed Armeh of Americaaaw. There's nothing that suggests there's any red tape dictating his personal grooming.

It's not that simple Ryzaki. Adding new, longer hairstyles will take resources away from other areas of the game and break the immersion of some guy 500 miles away.

Seriously, I hope they add new, better and longer hairstyle for Shepard in ME3. I doubt they will considering they didn't bother to improve the CC between 1 & 2. If not, I'll have to stick with Sheploo.

Pssh. Oh noes. What ever will I do without killing some blue sun mooks for a 200 credit chit cache. :P

I hope they did. They were asking about hair in a tweet so I'm guessing they put in some new styles.

Ash may have also chose to have long hair in ME3 because she's a officer now. Rank comes with its privileges. ;)

And FYI *points at Miranda and Ash* fighting in long hair has a precendent in ME universe. It's not like Shep can't tie it back when he/she needs to put on a helmet.

Hell my Shep spends most of the battlefield with just the Sentry Visior on he has no head protection. Let's not forget this is a game and style will sometimes trump how realistic something looks (like pretty much everyone in ME2's outfit).

I thought that Shepards body armour was pretty functional in design. I've spent a lot of time thinking about the design behind that armour. And women with long hair has a precedent, but not men. It just doesn't fit with the ethos of ME. How many long haired men have you seen in the entire series?

Exactly my point too. I understand why some people want it in ME3 but you cant have military and civilian world intermingle entirely. But if Bioware does allow it, no skin off my bones.

Everyone wins.

Except for the guy that has to make the new hair, I guess. Oh well. It's a living.

The more I think about it the more I want an MShep with long hair and a scraggly beard - make it look like he's been locked away for a year or something.
