I was re-playing DA:O this weekend, and while talking to Morrigan about shapeshifters, something struck me.
She clearly explains that shapeshifters can`t shapeshift into other humans etc. But in DA2, Flemeth looks completely different. How is this possible? Her body and her whole looks are way different from the way she looks in DA:0.

Am i missing something here? Or is this some lore-breaking thing?

She looks different, but the difference is in outfit and appearance. She's still effectively both a) human and B) recognisably the same person. She hasn't shapeshifted into, say, a thirty something black man. She still visually looks like Flemeth, just with different hair/clothes/etc.

As for why she's dressed differently, she's more than just an old woman with shapeshifting magic. I'm not going to get into all the theories that go around about her (mostly because I wouldn't even know where to begin), but the common thread seems to be that she's a master manipulator. With her DA:O appearance, she's being manipulative. She's posing as the crazy old lady who lives in the woods to play a certain role and toy with the Warden/s.

As far as DA2 goes, I wouldn't want to assume why she'd put her hair into horns and so forth. Ignoring that it seems like more of an artistic direction choice than anything else, perhaps that's just her favourite? Her default appearance? Perhaps she doesn't see the point in adopting a different appearance, since she just shape-shifted out of dragon form?

I'd also suggest that what Morrigan says she personally can do and what Flemeth can do are two different things.

bleetman pretty much summed it up. In the end though it's pretty much just a design change.

Regarding her DA2 appearance, it's very much for show - as much as her DA:O appearance is. To convince Hawke to carry the amulet-of-witch-fragment off to Sundermount, why not appear as first a dragon and then as a statuesque woman in armor? That leaves an impression, that inspires awe - that might make a young refugee feel confident in putting his/her trust in a Chasind legend.

Morrigan never said it can't be done. Just that she gains nothing by changing into a form she already is.

Also, Morrigan says she cannot change her appearance. She never stated Flemeth could not.

It's important to note that Morrigan says she cannot turn into another human because she is already a human. But  as we know from Witch Hunt, Flemeth is not human.

Well, she (Morrigan) never actually said she couldn't do it. She just doesn't really see the point in attempting to do so. That's not the same thing as her saying "Well, sorry but I can't do it. Them's the breaks."

It's very likely that humans can shapeshift into other humans.

So if a human shapeshifts into a younger human, he\\she can pretty much ignore aging then. Making him\\her immortal. If this is so: Why would Flemeth need daughters in order to prolong her life?

I agree... Morrigan never said she couldn't shift to another human form only that there's no point to it since she's already human. As for shifting into a younger looking form (looking being the key word here), that doesn't prolong life, hence the need for Flemeth to inhabit a "daughter's" body.

I don't even think Flemeth really does that. She's able to prolong her life just fine by doing what she did in DAII with the amulet.

And supposedly Alistair, Isabela, and Varric are going after a different Witch of the Wilds.
