First, I did search for another thread that would help me but none of them addressed my problem.
My old video card died a few months ago and I replaced it with a Radeon HD6850. The old card was a NVidia GeForce something or other; I can't remember now. Anyhow Dragon Age: Origins always ran fine with my old card. My new card has worked fine for all other games I've played in the last couple of months.
However, today I tried running DA:O again for the first time with the Radeon, and I got the error message "Failed to detect supported video card." When I check in my Device Manager, the Radeon card shows up just fine. Also, when I go to DA:O's splash screen, choose "Configure," and then choose "Display," my video card shows up correctly (AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series). So I know Dragon Age "sees" my card.
I've reinstalled/updated all drivers that I can think of and reinstalled my copy of Origins, but I still get this error. Can someone help me out?

Also, I am running a resolution of 1152x864 in both Windows and the Configuration of Origins. I've tried multiple resolutions and have the same problem with all.

Okay after hours of bashing my head against a wall, I figured out my problem. I ran dxdiag and while it said "No problems found," I noticed that th DirectDraw Acceleration was Disabled under the "Display" tab. After enabling that, I'm able to run the game with no problems again! Sorry to reply to myself twice, but this was a frustrating problem for me and maybe someone else will see this and be helped.
