What do you expect? The templars have divine right to watch over the mages they dont need arguments. And this doesnt reset the setting to dao. Dao showed the templars at their best and DA2 showed templars at their worst.

You seem to be under the misguided assumption that Templar need to be shown as ****s.

Their is nothing misguided  as the templars are a bunch ****s. I have seen religious fanaticism first hand. and let me tell you they believe that they alone are in the right. any form of compromise is impossible with them. And so it is for the templars.

Another anti-authoritarian story with little moral greyness or depth? From my Bioware?

Why am I not surprised?

It has nothing to do with religion, anybody who thinks they are right will be ****s. Mage, Templar, Orlesian, Ferelden, Player. It's all the same, as anybody who thinks they can do what they want because its justified often times show their true colors.

Or do you think mages won't justify themselves with the sake of "freeedddddooooommm!"?

Overall, I'm a bit disappointed with the approach they've taken to the conflict but I'm not completely worried. Gaider has shown that he can play devil's advocate and he understands where players from both sides come from. I'll stay optimistic.

And now you have seen the true collors of the templars. they are a bunch of biggots. Big deal as most religious fanatics are. Just as they are in the real world. But you seem to have a hard time accepting that your previous statements dont hold much truth and the pro/mage side was essentially  correct on many things. But the truth is that templars have caused the mage/templar warand the mages have to respond to them and not the other way around.

And while your correct that  som magese will indeed use the logic of the end justify the means. This is nowhere near as bad with the templars who have divine rights and can justify anything with its the makers will.

You know, it is possible to have different shades of gray. Both sides don't need to be equally ambiguous all the time. It's bad writing to have a character established as a nice guy to suddenly murder a family with no reason besides the fact he looks better than his adversary. This goes, in this case, for both mages and Templars.

I knew it! Divine Justinia has always been cool.

If she supports the Mages against the Templars then there would be no need to blow up the building she's in as well. :-)

Not where I thought that divide would land, but interesting developments anyway. I hope to continue to straddle the line on this one in DA3. Mages can't be totally free, and Templars don't need to be total bastards about it.

Should I know you? Then again, you appear to be another of those petty FFTL'ers; so I shouldn't really be surprised at you opposing me.

But really, do you even know what dissenting means?

Feel free to paint others motivations for finding your opinions a little preconcieved any way you want. You seem to be good at that. And dissenting means disapproval, which you loved to cram down the throats of the unspoiled after the ME3 leak just because the story isn't panning out exactly how you wanted it to, probably because you thought you were doing everyone a favor in doing so.

In truth it was that which made me dislike you. I could't care less about how you got sore after arguing with a few S/S people, driving you into the arms of that anti-S/S group with the dumb name (which I didn't even know you were a part of until now).

Like you painted me as you wanted in your original post?

You seem to be good at that.

I'll take your word for it.

And dissenting means disapproval,

No, dissenting means disagreeing with or opposing. Disapproving of something is a fairly passive process, unlike those other terms.

which you loved to cram down the throats of the unspoiled after the ME3 leak

Cram down, really?

just because the story isn't panning out exactly how you wanted it to, probably because you thought you were doing everyone a favor in doing so.

I have no major problem with the story ultimately disappointing, I already expected that much.

In truth it was that which made me dislike you.

Well, good.

I could't care less about how you got sore after arguing with a few S/S people, driving you into the arms of that anti-S/S group with the dumb name (which I didn't even know you were a part of until now).

And? Also, you have a banner associated with that group in your signature...

In any case, if you want to continue this, feel free to PM me, and stop further derailing this topic.

There are no dragons? At all? I has a sad.

Any other characters worth mentioning? Or lore insights? Gaider's books have tended to have a whole party traveling with the main character and usually have some backround details in them that get used in future games.

Hey, it's all based on what I know. I'm not judging until I read it completely, though preliminary knowledge is worrisome!

I don't think the templars being dicks really voids their point on mages. They are still very dangerous individuals that can't be left to take care of themselves with no supervision. Their unchained freedom would mean chaos for all of Thedas and the Templars and Seekers have good reason to fear that.

LOLz

I would like to know how the OP got a copy before the book is published - when even the author himself confessed to not having a copy yet.

Gotta wonder how much of this discussion is legit?

/just sayin Image IPB

I have read some of it published on the internet and it looks great so far to me.  Convinced me to buy it and its companions for christmas.

I think it's legit because others have mentioned getting the novel shipped early from Amazon UK.

Still, reading a synopsis isn't the same as reading the whole thing (and most of us haven't had that luxury).

The point being that the vast majority of the discussion is being conducted by people who haven't read the book that are extrapolating from brief bullet points.
