Can this be changed?  If I click on a thread I have never been to before it places me at the bottom of the page.  The result is each time I enter a new thread it is 'scroll, sroll, scroll' to get to the top of the page. 

Now I can see the logic of being put at the last page of a multi page thread but you should start at the top of  page in my opinion.

We also need to go to the last page in a group discussion. those always start you at the top of the first page.
