(Hopefully thats all the info needed)
I have read through the list of known issues, and google searched the forums for my specific problem but cannot seem to find anything. I even attempted to use the Live help service that EA has, and without intending any offence - I found them to be really very unhelpful.
The Issue -
During The Final Onslaught in Denerim I have gone from the beginning, through the Marketplace and Alienage to kill the Generals without any problem whatsoever, I then am switched to the secondary party to begin the quest "Hold the Gates" and it requires me to speak to the Officer to begin the fight. However whenever I get a step or 2 away from the Officer it simply crashes to the desktop. I get the error message "Dragon Age Origins has stopped working" Windows searches for a solution, fails and then its gone.
I can run around, I can go everywhere else with the same group at the gate, change gear, Do aything except for approach the Officer, and attempt to interact with him in any way.
In case it makes a difference, I have had only one issue in the entirety of the game - that was with the Fade ritual where you send a party member to save the kid in redcliffe, I was forced to send Irving because it would not allow Morrigan or Wynne to go. However this wasn't a game killer, I simply sent Irving instead. With the Officer issue, I HAVE to speak to him.
I have dialed down all the settings to the minimum, Lowest Graphics, Texture Detail, Aliasing etc etc - no difference.
I attempted to change the Core Affinity thing to 4,5,6 and 7 (as I believe is appropiate for my system) and No difference at all.
I even tried changing the controlled party member to others to see if that affected it and it didn't.
I am unsure of what else I should be attempting - Since I cannot find any other post with regards to the "Officer" in that specific quest, I figured it was worth creating a thread and hoping that someone could advise me on a way to fix it.
Thanks in advance.
*Edit to add* I've been playing with it, and got it working again. It seems to be something to do with one of the options, though for the life of me I cannot work out which one since I turned all the options back to max again and its absolutely fine.
Sorry for the waste of forum space!
