I don't think Square will ever recapture the magic. A lot of the great creative talents left long ago..The creator of the series, Hironobu Sakaguchi, left. Most of the team that created Xenogears went to form Monolith and are now releasing Xenoblade in the US. Even the two great composers Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda responsible for creating some of the greatest game music ever left.

MONOLITH MAKING NEW GAME = ME INTERESTED

Xenosaga is probably one of my all time favorite JRPGs....and probably the most twisted at some points (definitely most bat-poop-insane antihero...minor spoiler -youtube the Albedo and Momo scene if you want be disturbed, although I recommend playing the game to experience it in its true horror)

I'm definitely going to look into Xenoblade, quality JRPGs are my thing.


As for FFXIII I agree with you firefire, you can't do much worse than that...I mean at least comparitatively to other FF games...and well relative to high caliber RPGs/JRPGs it still can't even come close in my books.

Lets only hope that somehow they take the many negative responses on FFXIII to heart and do a better job on future releases.

I can tell the final fantasy fanbase is certainly the most.... conflicting one the deal with. with each FF game being different from it's predecessor it's hard to appeal to all the fans. who liked different ones. I know people don't like linearity and thats fine but Final Fantasy games have ALWAYS been about the stories. not combat, not airships, not Cloud but it's story. and THATS where the most effort goes to.

You can say you didn't like the game and that is fine but to say that it is don't down right horrible when almost all Japan loved it, is just wrong.

we are supposed to talking about Versus here.

well then I don't see much effort here then. just a copy and paste of the KH battlesystem. but SE has said this will be different than that so we will see.

I liked the KH battle system, still do. The KH1 model, 2 just had to mash triangle.
