Yet I no longer feel any real joy when reflecting upon older Zelda games or hearing about new ones. I sorta beat the drum for Skyward Sword before it came out, but fizzled out and decided to skip it after it was actually released.
So... I don't think I really like Zelda anymore. It's grown stale and is no longer relevant IMHO - as is Nintendo in general (or soon will be).

I essentially agree with Green Goron, although I still think Zelda Ocarina of Time an Zelda Majora's mask were real gems of games and I do get nostalgia with respect to those...I moderately enjoyed TP...mostly because I bought the GC version as opposed to the Wii, I could have played either...as for Skyward Sword, I'm passing as of now...might pick it up eventually for my Wii...but like you Green Goron, I don't feel like they possess the same caliber of quality they used to. And Nintendo is basically stuck...over the course of the Gamecube and the Wii they alienated their hardcore fanbase due to relative disproportions of bad shovelware versus quality platforms, with only the odd title, like No More Heroes, adding fresh blood to company which is essentially as big of a recycler as Activision with Call of Duty.
The GC era wasn't that bad actually. Majora's Mask was an absolute classic. I'll reserve my judgement of Skyward Sword until I get the game at Christmas.
BTW, if you don't already know about this, check this out. Listen to the normal version first, then the reversed.
(Little note- ignore the vid description on the first untill you see the second)

I don't have a Wii but I was seriously looking at it at the store the other day. FUUUU why cant someone just hire me already?
Skyward Sword looks fun as hell. Some things like annoying characters and stupid dialog is just par for the course at this point lol.
I been itching to replay Twilight Princess (Gamecube version) but i lent it to my friend and he lost it.
I don't feel like playing the older games again. so thats about it.

Wind Waker is my favorite of the series, but probably because it was the first one I played. I also really enjoyed Twilight Princess, once things started to speed up a bit. I've also started playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask multiple times, but never finished them and I can't entirely remember why. Oh, and Spirit Tracks but I lost my DS and I keep forgetting that that game exists.
I plan on playing Skyward Sword sometime after Christmas.

Dunno if that is sad that Nintendo is that lazy or creatively awesome. Good listen regardless.
Also don't get me started on windwaker, one of the few I've ever owned and just put down out of pure detest for the game...although I concede the concept was neat.

Wind Waker: I loved when Link thrust his sword into Ganon's forehead. The best part of the whole game.
Twilight Princess: The first one on console since LTTP to give me the same feeling.
Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons: This game for the Gameboy Color also gave me the same feeling I felt while playing A Link To The Past. I liked how the two games were connected and that continuing from one into the other unlocked an extra battle with Ganon and some story sequences.
I have yet to play Ocarina of Time. Even though, I have it on an emulator. I think the graphics are putting me off, quite honestly I didn't care for the N64 graphics even back when it came out.
But I bought a 3DS so come christmas, I'll have the 3DS version soon. Have heard so many good things about this one.

I don't know many people that outright hate that game. Why do you detest it so much?
I cant speak for anyone else but Wind Waker is the only Zelda game I lost interest before the end. The endless sailing was so boring. Constantly switching the wind and trying to find where your going was tedious and ruined it for me. It was a fun concept but ultimatley failed IMO. Whatever enjoyment I found in the dungeons and whatever was just forgetten and I just couldn't be bothered.

Agreed. It's the second worst Zelda game IMHO, next to Phantom Hourglass (which featured even MOAR sailing - yay!)
Anyway, it's down to A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess for me. OoT has sort of worn out its welcome with me - I've played and thoroughly beaten it so many times, I have the whole damn game down to the last detail memorized, and could "play" it inside of my freakin' mind.

Well, I can tell you what I think is wrong with the game:
- A boring, unengaging storyline that... wait, what was I just talking about again? I forgot. Oh well, it must not have been important if I forgot it so quickly.
- An extremely lackluster soundtrack, especially by Zelda standards. There aren't even any unique dungeon themes - I mean, hell, even A Link to the Past (a game that came out two decades ago) had two distinctive themes for its dungeons. PH can't even lay claim to that.
- A mind-numbingly dull dungeon that you must start over from the beginning in several times throughout the game - yes, you must start from the first floor, work your way down, solving the same puzzles and avoiding the same enemies over and over again. It's the epitome of tedium.
And last, but not least:
- Sailing. No further explanation necessary.

I'll start by saying, hated the art-style, hated the simplistic and boring dungeons, hated EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in the game (bland and uninspiring, and extremely childish, I swear the game should have been rated EC [early childhood]), poor menu layouts, constant switching between gear, tedious sailing, most of the world was water, pointless side-quests, limited weapon assortment....I can keep going lol.
Because Ganondorf having a sword halfway stuck down his skull is early childhood material? (The sailing can get tedious though, at least untill you get the Ballad of Gales) I think you are being a tad TOO cynical personally, in regards to the Skyward Sword theme but that's just me so, yeah, It's supposed to be the very first game in the timeline so Ninty made it the Zelda's Lullaby in reverse as if it were turning back the clock, to the very fiirst events, or so I hear.
RPGamer, if you end up liking OoT, I reccomend hunting down Majora's Mask, if you haven't already played it yet.
Also, did any of you know that the Song of Healing is Saria's Song backwards? It's not quite the same melody but yeah.

I actually really liked Ganondorf in Wind Waker. He seemed older, and more contemplative, than in other Zelda games. He still had that whole "God complex" going on, but I actually sympathized with his desire to restore Hyrule.
If I remember correctly he only wanted power at first so the Gerudos could live a decent life, but absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Never finished either title, then you have TP, (Not mentioning earlier titles to GB titles on purpose, played those but this is about the console arm for me) TP I rather enjoyed minus Link and Minda's ending...and the fact it means he like ever other link is doomed to be with some pain in the rump woman and stuck in a village. Overall I don't think the series needs to change, its fine like it is, I would like to see how the land changes, maybe more allies for one side or the other, or some real sidequests, but is it Zelda is link gets an AK and fights space slugs?
Is the Story of Jason the same without the Agronauts? Some games, movies, books, and events are just ment to be shown in one way or with minor changes, or it just isn't what it was. Toruk tried to modernize, and look at what it turned into.
Though mute points for me, The Wii isn't my sort of system and the Wii U is a question mark, though I do miss my adventures as Link and Mario, but I owe no loyality to nintendo to own a system just for two icons.
I have to say though with all the ****ing on "Thrid Party Support" I for one Liked how it was in the late 90's early 2000's where cross platform titles were rare and each system offer its own, my biggest concern is when first party support dies, and it all is thrid party, if that happens whats the point in owning any one system over the others?
But yeah I left them out but most of the GB titles are pretty good and old school.
As to Ganon, with him...I trust nothing he says, he was raised by robbers and pirates, and betrays at very chance, his allies, kings, everyone. He's a master manipulator, and like almost everyone in politics he can kiss babies promise this and that, but at the end of the day he's in it for himself. He doesn't need to be corrupt, he IS. And he's escaped imprisonment how many times? Or even death? And yet he never changes, never just goes "I'm FREE!!!! BAWHAHAHA....who am I kidding I think I'll build an orphanage, right the wrongs in the world, find Links newest incarnation, say I'm sorry." Its always the same story with him.
Might be neat to see a more "Modern game" where people have technology which is helpess to his dark magic, but not sure a shooter would be Zelda.

My top 3, in order from best to least:your fave game
Ocarina of Time
Link to the Past
Majora's Mask
best moments
Ocarina of Time: Beating Ganon's Final Form.
LttP: The Introduction, Entering Dark World, the Mirror transition "whir WHIR WHIR WHIR!".
Majora's Mask: The end of Anju/Kafei's Quest. The final fight with majora(with or without fierce diety).
At least at the time of its conception: it was a little of action, adventure, and rpg simplified and combined well. Where it lacks in any respectable storyline, is made up for in level design and addictability/fun factor. I also have an adoration for well-made boss battles, and the Zelda series is usually fantastic at that.why you like the series
The part where I still desire to play themstuck on a certain part.

Discuss anything Zelda related here, your fave game, best moments, why you like the series, stuck on a certain part, whatever really.
First of all: YAY FOR A ZELDA TOPIC!!!! 8D
Favourite game: Ocarina of Time (pretty much defined the whole of my childhood, lol), closely followed by Majora's Mask
Best moments: Fighting Twinrova and Ganon's final form in Ocarina of Time, as for Majora's Mask I'd have to admit I loved the Deku Palace (Dekus are friggin' hilarious, I tell ya) and fighting my way through the Stone Tower temple...and of course Fierce Deity Link made every boss battle all the more awesome
Why I like the series: Link. Need I say more? XD
Stuck on a certain part: I remember getting hopelessly stuck in the Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time, lol...decided to give the game a bit of a rest, picked up later again and solved the problem. I'm quite stubborn

As for the Skyward Sword theme music, I don't give a f*ck whether it's based on Zelda's Lullaby, it sounds awesome to me! :3
