Having to see new treasure and bug descriptions again every time I loaded up the game was annoying. Not as annoying as the similar rupee notification in Twilight Princess, maybe, but I would have hoped they learned their lesson after that. The game needed an options screen for text speed and z-target-lock adjustment too.
I was kind of disappointed by the narrow geographical scope, that there were only three provinces to visit with unlockable late-game areas in them. I was hoping the world below would be contiguous as well, so you could travel all the way across it instead of using the sky portals to get around.
This next one isn't really a problem with the game per se, but something that made me sad-- the "hope you find your friend, kid," "you'll find out when you're older" type themes. Reminds me that I'm not really the main audience for these games anymore. Though, I don't recall earlier Zeldas beating me over the head with it so much, even when Link looked like a 5 year old. Though that's a bit strange in itself, because the Link in SS doesn't look young per se, except his face, but then all of the "adult" males are almost twice his height, so I don't know how old he's supposed to be. But in any case, you're telling me he's not old enough to be a knight yet but he's old enough to stave off apocalyptic hellfire? Ehh. And why does he have to prove himself 50 times, hasn't he been chosen by the goddess already?
Also a couple of bosses were a bit hard to take seriously... and some of the other creatures.
The full item loadout was a tad disappointing. Nothing really novel except the mecha-beetle.
The lack of consequences for getting knocked off cliffs made "winning" such fights a bit unsatisfying. I didn't realize Link was Meat Boy's brother.
At times it felt a little too derivative of past games... even by LoZ standards.
But still, what I liked about the game far outweighed all of those. The motion controls were a bit frustrating at first but I grew to love them (particularly with the bow). I liked the new upgrade system. I felt like the characterization for all the characters was much more fleshed out than before (Ghiranim more than made up for the disappointment that was Zant). The temples felt shorter than before but with more impressive designs (loved the Indian/Japanese? themes). The bosses weren't particularly difficult but they were engaging anyway IMO, and certainly an improvement over the ridiculously easy TP bosses.
The geographic scope may have been limited, but I really liked how the game presented the ravages of time well in different areas. The music certainly helped. The music in general was very nice-- I'm hesitant to say it was more memorable than OoT's or others, but it was a fine addition in any case.
I understand there is some irony in my list of likes being less lengthy than my list of dislikes while claiming I love the game, but I guess I'm good at dwelling on minor gripes. The main thing, though, is that SS still has all the magic of a Zelda game, and even more in some ways. Full disclosure of course, I'm a biased Zelda fan. But yeah.

Finally got around to finishing SS. I really liked it. I hope the series sticks with the motion controls as it's the best innovation the series has seen in a long time.

I finished SS now too, Really enjoyed it. The 'dialogue choices' were a nice touch even if they obviously don't change anything except in one or two sidequests, also for such a compact gameworld there was a lot to do.

Tell me BSN, how does it feel to be a pack of casuals in 2014?
And the lack of pages is astounding.

Skyward Sword was pretty damn good. I liked it a lot.
It was a bit different but it was damn sure still a Zelda game.
But I've only played it once back when it first came out and I lost my Wii during a move almost 2 years ago.
Thus, I like it a lot but I don't currently value it as much as the four listed above.
I've played those four over and over and over and over and over again.
My passion for them grows more and more each time I'm play them.
Can never grow tired of them tbh

So I was playing Four Swords earlier (I know, beast mode) and finally got through the first area, that Sea of Trees. The game is pretty dope tbh
That game is hella fun. Addictive too. I played it for 3 hours straight when I got it on the 3DS. Been alternating between that and Ocarina of Time master quest atm. And here soon, I'm going to play through Wind Waker again.
I'm obessed.
And I don't need help.

On a side note, Hyrule: Total War is the best mod for anything strategy ever.

Ocarina of Time was a significantly different game from its previous incarnations, but still kept me on board the Zelda train. I honestly preferred most of the bosses from LttP to be honest, but it remains the most important 3D Zelda to date, with Majora's Mask as a close runner up.
As many will mention, Majora's Mask is an underrated gem. Dark, Emotional, and just plain weird.
I haven't bought a Zelda game in the last 10 years, so unfortunately my memories of Zelda will probably remain memories. The games following Wind Waker certainly looked entertaining and changed things up, but it wasn't quite enough for me to fork up anything for the Wii.
The rumors of a Wii U Zelda Title has my attention, but I'll be waiting until more information appears. I'll probably be flocking to either Dark Souls 2, DA:I, or something similar until then.
Beware of the Cows In The Belly.Been alternating between that and Ocarina of Time master quest atm.
Heard good things about it, I'll have to check that out.On a side note, Hyrule: Total War is the best mod for anything strategy ever.

Definitely a good download if you're into mods. The balance isn't perfect but it's more than workable. The AI pathfinding is painful at times (gorons). The faction storytelling is surprisingly well-done for a Total War mod. The actual lore is a bit polarizing.
It's like if Nintendo asked a Warhammer writer and GRR Martin to write a real Hystoria. Some fans will love the grimdark and some will hate it. It's pretty depressing to see favorite characters getting abused and killed.

Very true, I've heard nothing but good things: Pick-Your-Own-Dungeon, References from the original LttP, etc.If you haven't picked up Link Between Worlds I'd recommend that you do. It is fantastic.
Looking at the 3DS collection, that's the only game(outside of the soon-to-be-released Bravely Default) that would make the purchase worth it. If the system gets some more worthy titles, I'll open ye olde wallet.

There are also games like Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei and Pokemon that might be worthy of your attention. The OoT remake is great.
Now, they just need to release ALttP for the Virtual Console...

So while I can see how some aspects of it were brilliant, Link's Awakening is never going to end up on my list of favorite Zelda games.
Majora's mask suffers from a similar fate. Having to constantly roll back time to save and repeat the same actions over and over to try to advance and discover new stuff killed it for me. That and the water dungeon. No matter how good the rest of the game was (and it did have some aspects that were made of pure distilled greatness), I'm never replaying Majora's mask.

See... I'm not in the habit of buying a new console that happens to be stationary. A portable ALttP plz.
