As long as the story is good then that's all that matters really.

Scared? Hell no. Disappointed yes. Hoping that after the COD and GoW trailers, the silliness of melee swords and continuation of silly powers that BW starts showing some real trailers with something I actually care to see or hope to play.

What do you expect to see? 2-3 minutes of Shep around the Citadel/wherever talking to people and doing assignments/showing off major plot decisions? Because that won't roll, the marketing seems to be intended for the more action oriented gamer. We, the hardcore fans have been told by BW time and time again what ME3 will have to keep us happy. Do you believe such things don't exist just because they haven't been shown in trailers yet?

.
I wouldn't blame people for doing it, the marketing so far has been terrible for us fans.

I will agree on you that the marketing could be a tad better, regardless of it's target audience, but perhaps they aren't marketing it towards us because they know we're gonna buy it anyway.

And that, as I see it, is the problem.  They assume that we will just buy the game blindly.  I, for one, am not buying until I see more than just killing with silly melee weapons.

Well, Calinstel, what do you yourself want to see in the next ME3 trailer?

Most fans probably will though - due to the substantial money and time investments we've put into this story so far most of us will buy it to finish the story.

As I said before, just about anything that is not killing, killing, killing.  I understand that the trailers are supposed to grab the attention of the view with action.  But it is not all a trailer is supposed to do.  .  ME has never been about the gun battles to me, but the actual story and characters.
Even if BW just spread a few scenes, still images, of the galaxy at large instead of all the silly melee weapons I would be more inclined to purchase the game.  I'm not asking for conversations or spoilers, just visual indications of what the Devs are saying is true.  As it stands, everything I played ME1 for is missing.  Hell, show me a clip of planetary exploration and I would start drooling as much as the other fans drool over the (to me) silly melee attacks.
(I've played both ME1 and ME2 on insanity so I am not a 'story mode' player.  I just want to see some of the RP in the G.  And weapons mods are not RP.  BioShock did it as do so many other shooter games.)

So what's "RP" exactly ?

They already have shown more.  And then there're the demo leaks. Watch those. Better than waiting for Bioware's marketing department to read your mind and produce whatever sort of trailer it is that you wnat

Things are looking grim IMO. Certain characters have been turned into comic book villains, decisions from the previous games have little effect and when they do the renegade decisions tend to be the 'wrong' ones. Ah well, at least there'll be lots of action.

<_<

Am I scared? For the whole game, not at all. I expect that it will be very good and bring an epic story to a fitting conclusion.

For Miranda's role, definitely. And I'm not impressed by the core team. At all. None of my favorites is on the team, which is very disappointing.

So I'll expect to play a great story with characters I have a lukewarm appreciation of at most. Enough to get bipolar about Mass Effect 3.

Agreed--seeing the core team evokes another fear of mine that I think Mass Effect 3 is doing.

The team is eerily reminiscent of Mass Effect 1's squad . One has to wonder if Bioware is just completely ditching the feel and experience of Mass Effect 2 in favor of reverting the series back to Mass Effect 1's experience.

Yes it's mostly ME1 squad, so what? What's wrong with that? It was the original crew, we original fans wanted. Not all started this series with ME2. Of course we cant have Wrex back, because they decided to him to be killable or somekind of krogan king, which is kinda sad. But most of the original crew is back in action.

Don't act so condescending, as if those who started with ME2 didn't deserve to get their favorites back. Besides, I started with ME1 back in 2008, and I wasn't impressed with that "original" team either, except for Ashley and Kaidan. Also, it's not mostly the ME1 team, it is ONLY the ME1 team plus three new ones. Why even add new team members when there could be two ME2-exclusives on the team. It's insulting to those who preferred the ME2 team, that's what it is.

The problem is, the ME2 writers shot themselves in the foot when they made it possible for everyone to die at the end of ME2. Screwed things up a bit when they came to do ME3. But yeah, I too would have liked to have seen some ME2 people on the squad (and I'm getting a little tired of Garrus and Tali).

People with unrealistic expectations will be disappointed.

People with realistic expectations but for whom the choices went another way will also be disappointed.

People who don't want a balanced shooter-RPG will be disappointed but something 'pure' will be disappointed.

People who want a flawless story with no horrendous cliches will be disappointed.

Most people, however, will enjoy it quite well.

Wow, I'm impressed, your post is short and to the point compared to the usual walls of text you spew on here.  Kudos.  Never though I'd agree with anything you posted, but you've proven me wrong.  Unless of course your account has been hacked and this wasn't actually written by you which would make more sense.

Now, I could make a GIF that shows this. Problem is, that it'd probably be well over 10 MB large after being compressed and I don't know a site that will host a file size that big, nor do I think people with slow internet speeds would appreciate me soaking it all up.

So I'm just going to give you this, this, this and this.

To be honest I was way more excited in the months leading up to mass effect 2 than I am know. Maybe its because I already expect ME3 to be more combat focused or it can be that there are so many good games out right now, either way I am still looking forward to it.
