I dunno if anyone has made a topic on this specifically, but I just wanted to say the new Health System as it were looks pretty good. For those who haven't noticed here's what I'm talking about:

(Ignore Shepard's Posterior and the Giant HAL 9000)
Posted Image

If I'm assuming correctly Shepard now has 5 hard points of Health. Essentially if Shepard takes too damage much they will not be able to regain portions of their health via regeneration. This gives lasting consequences to being reckless and taking too much damage now. If you get to the point where you're on the brink of death you won't be able to hide behind a crate for 5 seconds and magically feel all better. Instead you'll only gain a 1/5th of your total Health, essentially remaining "wounded".

However I'm guessing that Medi-Gel will actually be useful again for restoring Player Health. As instead of simply be a Squadmate Revival Power it now serves the practical purpose of keeping you alive! How much an application of Medi-Gel restores remains unknown. Perhaps on Insanity it only restore 1 hard point? Now that's what I call a proper Insanity Mode!

So yep I just wanted to say it's nice to see Shepard isn't looking to be a Human Iguana in ME3.

However I'm still a bit bothered that Squadmates lack an "active display" Health Bar. A flashing white shield isn't very helpful in letting me know whether Garrus is about to die. However an actual Health Bar under the floating head could prove useful. I'm mean if I'm going to be treated like an illiterate who can't associate squadmate names, I expect that there to be a very obvious health bar to help my dumb-dumb self.

Yes, we've seen it work that way in the leaked beta, health was only regenerating up to 1/5

The red screen isn't there all the time to remind you that you're close to being dead, though.

Which I think is good.

This'll add to the challenge.

If you increase your fortitude you probably get more bars too.

I'm a fan, especially if it works like it did in the leak beta (only regenerating 1/5)! Vanguards might be sad though...ah well more challenge!

Looks like the Sirta foundation will be back in business selling medigel.  And I completely agree with OP on squadmate health, however, they do give audio clues when that's about to happen.

I just hope the Normandy actually has a medi-gel dispenser this time, when it's actually needed.

I suspect the SR-2 DID have a dispenser.

Chakwas just hid it because Shepard kept stealing it all.

With this new health system I can't wait to play ME3 on Insanity. I never do an Insanity run the first time through but I just might do it for ME3.

Yep. This was one of the best surprises form the leaked beta. I don't think new health system was even hinted before, so I though it would stay exactly the same way it did in ME2 (the stupid full regeneration after 5 seconds in cover). So I'm very happy about this!

I love the idea.

That said, I think having the shield/health bar is a little distracting. :P

Definitely makes Medigel an important resource once again.

(nice joke about sirta there)

Will soldiers start off with more bars or will they just have opportunity to increase their base health. I imagine Techs will be similar with regard to shields...

Insanity will be different that's for sure (Did the suicide mission on insanity without using one medigel with an Infiltrator - doubt I'm going to be able to do that again)

EDT: The white bar indicated your teammate was on cooldown from using a power...

I think it's a good idea.

Also, when it came to your squadmates, it was a red flashing bar that told you they were about to die, not the white one. The white one was either if they were under fire, I think, or if they used a power.

It does seem like an interesting idea. In one of the demo leaks I saw it also appears that when you lose your shields you no longer get a brief period of invulnerability, you immediately start taking health damage.

It's nice to know I ain't the oly one who still ain't sure what the squadmate bars were showing lol

I do hope that we do regenerate full heath outside of combat at least. In combat limited health regeneration is a good thing as it can add to the difficulty of things.

Yeah. I DO know that it flashed white when you used their powers. I don't know if there was any other reason for it flashing white. I DO know that if they were going to die soon it would start flashing red. Not sure if there's a middle ground.

I think it's better than just health regen.
.
The problem is they are always on in the hud... it should be like ME2 in which they disappeared when you were not taking damage.

In ME2 they disappeared when you were healed, not when you weren't taking damage.

Yeah, Halo 1 had something similar. You had your shields, which always recharged if you went long enough without taking damage, then you had your health bar, under it which wouldn't regenerate without health packs. I really like this approach.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of this system (if it is the new health system). It seems to punish aggressive play and reward a reserved style. Still, can't judge something 'til I've played it. Hopefully, the change is for the better.

When you were not taking damage, it would recharge, and then, disappear.

Well, it is a high risk/high reward scenario.

In some passive evolutions of the Soldier, you'll either gain a significant boost for melee attacks after killing an enemy with your heavy melee or it boosts the weapon damage for a slightly shorter time.

That could be worth the risk of getting exposed sometimes.
