The the sequel to arguably the worst game to bear the final fantasy namesake...I'm even including those Crystal Chronicles Bastardizations in this....and we all know how much better sequels tend to be relative to the original....lets use FFX-2 as an example.

What about the one with the Dres Spheres?

BTW if anyone wants to discuss the game or demo without dealing with bashing you can do so at the group in mine and several users sigs.

Also word of advice to anyone interseted in jumping into the FF series. Don't start with the later titles. Play the older ones first, I-X. I recommend IX myself. Very few dislike FFIX. You can download it in the PSN store under psOne classics. FFVII VIII V and VI are there too depending on your region. Also you could buy FFIV Complete Collection if you have a PSP.

I would suggest getting FFX. That storyline is still unmatched by any game today. and it uses good old turn-based combat.

what is wrong with you people?

What people?

Edit: what exactly do you mean by you people? I can't answer your question without knowiing that.

"people" is a generalization for "human" or as my race likes to call them. "Shizno's"
so tell me

Are you a Human?

I agree. FFIX is a great game, if you want a FF game in its purest, most traditional form without being as dated as the earlier 2d games this is perfect. While I do love VII and VIII I think IX has fewer flaws and is the most fun in the series.

The SNES ones are great too (IV-VI) but I'd be less sure about recommending them to JRPG newcomers.

I loved FF9(why the bloody roman numerals all the time? I'm rebelling against them) and wish it was available on XBLA. That and FF7.

From what I've played of the demo its killed any interest I had left. I still enjoy the battle system but really don't care for the pokemon aspect of it all or the QTE's which I usually don't mind. Overall it felt kind of cheap, I'd give it a 3/10.

Having monsters as the 3rd party member really doesn't work in a FF game that is usually about having a party of characters, though I can understand the concept I think it would've worked better if the monsters were used as low-grade summons or just similar to the guest party members.

And as much as I'd love having chocobos and tonberries fighting with me, the gimmick doesn't quite work for XIII-2 IMO.

I'll echo the favoring of FFIX also; and enjoyed it more than VII and VIII too. If I was to reccommend the FF series to anyone new to it I'd probably go backwards from IX all the way to VI, though the SNES games might not be everyone's cup of tea I would at least try IV and VI before judging them.

This, the story was atrocious, but so was the story in FFXIII, I'd still put it well above FFXIII. At least it didn't need a dictionary/wiki to understand wtf half the characters were saying, and had story driven progression. That and FFX-2 did better with females then males it seemed...from most people I've met at least.

Though I never needed the Datalog to get what the characters were saying... The characters do tell you what you need to know, even if not straight away. Take it from someone who's watched all 6 seasons of LOST.

This. I don't even understand how people get confused by XIII's story. Really.

I think they have gotten used to people spoon feeding the player the story and treating them like idiots.

Finally got around to preordering the LE. From Game UK the preorder comes with the steelbook case, the Episode i novella, Omega and outfit DLC's, everything except the two DLC weapons which I don't really care about.

I think they have a book called "Fragments Before" which takes place before FFXIII-2.

The novella that takes place before FFXIII-2 is what Arcadian Legend is talking about. In NA that's a Best Buy exclusive, sounds like we got the short end of the stick because I think the Omega fight and outfits are exclusive to Gamestop.

I also don't understand what's so confusing about the story.

All you really need to know is that Fang and Vanille set everything in motion and the Fal'cie are a race separate from the humans that is using them as slaves for their grand scheme.

As usual then, I must be an exception because I loved X-2, Paine I thought had the best outfits for all the classes. It was also the first time I heard Gwendoline Yeo and then afterwards, she's blown up. Mass Effect and other video games... a number of anime...

I just found out something about XIII-2

I was looking at the GameFAQs forums and apparently, even in the demo, you can make it so Serah always uses her bow during combat, I also imagine there's a way to do the same for her sword:

When customizing the paradigm there's a symbol beside the name of the paradigm, select that and there should be 3 options, to make serah use her bow all the time change it to "wide"

and the name of the paradigm should be like "Agression-W"

I did not post that, I just thought I'd share it.

Yeah, I noticed that Paradigm Tuning changes weapon forms. Depending on what you are using Serah could spam bow or sword and Noel could spam swords or spear. I wonder if certain monsters have similar attack change animations?

There also going to be "Fragments After" which will continue the story and hopefully lead to the third game.

^^I think I will just stick with Aggression-X.

Is XIII really that hated? I started it again earlier this month and have been thoroughly enjoying it.
But then i'm one of those that dislike IX and like VIII, so maybe i'm just odd.
