So what do you people think of Caius(or Kaius) right now. does he seem like a worthy enough villain for Lightning?
I like him a lot actually (at first I was just confused by him). Plus from what I gathered from the trailers I'm not sure if he's entirely evil, or even a villain for that matter. Something makes me think maybe he thinks he's fighting for the right. But we'll see.

People seem to use villian as a force of habit but I believe "antagonist" works better in many cases and people just don't notice the distinction between the two words.Ghost Lightning wrote...

Blame FFXIV for that one. don't like MMO's that much. FFXIII is a great game no matter what the sales say. FFX and VI sold less than FFVII but both are better than FFVII(in my opinion) but sales aren't everything. does this mean CoD is the greatest game everymade since it sells so well?.
I'm going to have to disagree.
Every battle consists of "Hit the X button a half dozen times", the gameplay consists of "Get cut scene every 10 feet". The story was largely nonsensical, and nigh-impossible to get into. It was hands down the worst game I've ever played, and I bought Battlecruiser 3000AD on day 1.
And actually, if you want to go by sales, the greatest game ever is Angry Birds with over 400 million downloads, followed by Mario and Pokemon whose series aggregated over 100 million sales. CoD, even aggregated, is very far down on the list of best selling games ever.
But if you want to go with overall popularity, it's going to be Tetris.
Truth is, CoD isn't all that significant at this point. It just looks that way because everything else this year underperformed, and the last 2 years have been largely negative growth.

At very least we can definitely expect to fight him more than once.

Well their research team just got a big HD TV and FFXII-2 as "Christmas" presents just today, I've asked her to tell me what she thinks about it but she probably won't respond 'til tomorrow when she e-mails me.. I'll let you know what she thinks then. :3

"The team I work with have received their Christmas gift (a really nice TV and a PS3) so I’m thinking I might be able to import ME3 in March, supposing we have a set address for a month. Anyway we’ve been playing FFXIII-2 and it’s actually really good. The linearity has gone and they have dialogue OPTIONS, they don’t change a damn thing but at least they’re there and multiple endings and the dialogue options change with the replays but it’s still Final Fantasy so it’s quite long. Barely even got into it so far but it’s a great distraction from homesickness."

great news. Could you ask if the dialog options have slightly different respones like in ME or completely different respones like in Deus Ex:HR?.

why do people have such hate for cut-scenes?. I love cut-scenes in a game becuase it help will drive the story forward. as for the story being nonsensical... I don't know what to say if you couldn't follow it. guess it was too complex for you huh?. Ok yes if you don't read the datalog, things will get confusing, but I like that about a story. where it doesn't just explain everything all at once(it makes the characters look stupid). YOU have to piece together the story(if you don't read tthe datalog).
saying this the game is the worst ever is all in your opinion. Tons of other people loved FFXIII and it's characters. mostly in Japan. Agian we are here to talk about the sequel and not it's predecessor.

I think she means more in the style of the cinematic actions. They're like story changing QTE's without penalties.

The options may not appear to change anything at first, but later on she might realize what her choices affect.
Also, S-E has said that in areas you can choose to go down one path or another. And I read about what i think is the first area, with a giant thing and you can either try to tackle it head on or go down another path to do something that will lower its abilities and make the fight easier.
Don't know about anyone else, but that actually sounds interesting and I'd rather that because then your actions have an immediate effect than to be told my decisions will affect the outcome of the game and future games, but then nothing significant happens.

Right, because the character doesn't have to be evil to want to do something.
An antagonist comes about when two people have different views on the same subject. And then who is the protagonist and who is the antagonist is all based on perception. And since this is someone else's story, they want us to perceive one side as the "good guys" and the other side as "bad guys".

That's a sensible theory actually. He might be some kind of guardian of the timelime or something. It would explain why he would see Lightning (who is in that alternate time when she clearly isn't supposed to be) as an enemy.

I've been thinking thiss too, but then, aren't they and Light really the (unintentional) bad guys?

Basically, but it wouldn't be the first for a Japanese RPG. I know I've played at least one other game like that, but I can't remember what it was.

Whatdo you guys think of the party system this time around? Gonna be interesting with the choosing of creatures.
To be honest, I don't like it. From a gameplay stand point I can see how it could be fun and challenging, but I really wanted to see more of the first game's charcters to be playable.

Ok, since you want to be rude...
1. That's pretty much all the game consists of, press X every few minutes. The running joke on my college campus was unlocking the secret achievement "Pressed the X button 10,000 times in a row".
2. Cut-scenes are fine. 5 minutes of cut-scenes every 5th battle is ridiculous. It's much more a movie than a game.
3. No, it wasn't too complex. It was idiotic storytelling. Good storytelling consists of actually giving people background before throwing 2 dozen completely meaningless terms at them. If i need a dictionary to figure out what the heck is happening in a game's story, because the writers are so horribly bad at writing that they couldn't figure out what the purpose of an introduction is, then the game's story is a failure. Perhaps you enjoy being completely bewildered about what's happening and why you're supposed to care, but I guarantee you, you are the minority on this one.
4. You're right, saying it's the worst ever is my opinion. Saying it's amazingly bad, however, is not.
http://www.metacriti...ii/user-reviews
A 6.4 user rating demonstrates the game is bad.
5. Quit trying to ignore the problems with the series by claiming you're here to talk about the new one. It's the direct sequel to FF13, and so FF13 is extremely relevant in any conversation about the sequel to FF13. The game had massive problems, if FF13-2 doesn't solve them, it will not sell.

Also, I quite enjoy certain games with cutscenes every fifth battle. Xenogears, made by the same company (but in an era where its products were much more uniformly competently-crafted, ahem) puts XIII's 'interruptions' to 'shame' and I love the hell out of it. Some games just work for me in that regard.
