I loved 13. The story was very interesting and the gameplay was fun (when you DIDN'T set it to auto ability). Some of the characters were a tad annoying (hope and snow), Lightning, Fang, Vanille and Sazh were good.

Yeah the quality of FFXIII is why XIII-2 got what it got.Storm Farron wrote...

XIII sold a bit over 500k in it's first week in Japan. Which is pretty bad for FF - it's even slightly lower then what Xillia received, which is considerably more niche.
XIII did a bit over a mill & a half. Should also add that X-2 did even more than that, for anyone wondering if it's because it's a sequel to an existing game.
Hopefully this is a wake up call to Square.
yeah becuase sales totally deterimine the quality of a game.
sidenote X-2 wasn't that bad of a game.
XIII-2 was supposed to fix the plethora of problems that the original had in almost every area. I don't really want Square to get the impression that their 1.5 million selling Thirteen was up to par; if anything, that the original sold so much and this sold so little should be troubling for those of us who DIDN'T like XIII. That XIII-2 sold so little might mark the diehard complainers as niche.
I guess we'll see what kind of reception XIII-2 gets here, but I'd be surprised if the forecast read anything but "chilly."
I'd hope Square should know pepole judge you on your last product as much as the quality of the title itself(though who knows whether XIII-2 is even any good).
But hey, it's Square...
Also who said FFX-2 is a bad game?
it's been out for like a week. Man I didn't know people wanted FF to fail so much they have to go around giving Square a bad rep. thats really sad.

People's hate for FFXIII is not hard to understand at all.lightsnow13 wrote...
I'm not understanding the hate for 13. Granted, I wish they stopped. I think they're trying to fix their "mistake" by creating FF13-2. I think the whole "recruiting monsters" is a little ridiculous.

Also Vanille was not good in any ways and Hope was fine for what his role was.
Yeah "I wanted FF to fail" so I give Square a bad rep.

Please don't lose your identity Square.
I can understand some of the hate for FFXIII, but it's a Japanese game made for the Japanese. I guess im more open minded about game's than others.

All they need to do is make the games good again if that means they have rip off Bioware let them.
Yeah cuz it was made for Japanese people it was bad if that is the reason I wonder why is it even they hate it?

Japanese games are more linear and story based. There not really that fond of exploration.
I think there is a rule for ****** games and that is. "Gamplay is reflected by the story". at least thats what I think.
hmm your right they lost their identity when they made FFVII... then regained it agian with FFX.

And not be an ass like Capcom while doing that....Dave of Canada wrote...
The Japanese game industry has stagnated due to everybody following the same formula, they need to do something outside their identity if they hope to progress. The irony of them stagnating the current game generation is not lost on me, though it's something they need to do if they hope to stay afloat.
And the identity was lost a bit at FFXII(not a mega bad game but still) and really lost it with the FFVII spin-offs and FFXIII.

"I’ve been busy with school but when I’ve had some spare time I’ve been playing FFXIII-2 and it’s really, really good. The story appears to weave but it actually doesn’t. It plays the same but because of variation every play seems different I watched the ending of someone elses’ play and I really hope mine doesn’t end that way! It centres on Noel and Serah and just as a warning Noel is pretty much Cloud, Squall and Tidus mixed together. I never had a problem with any of them but I know lots of others have. I won’t spoil the endings but in general they are not positive and not life affirming. Also I didn’t like Serah but hey that’s just me also Hope is a bit better this time around. I still have lots to go on it, about 15 hours in at the moment and another 10 probably to go... maybe more. The paradigm system is still dodgy as, worse than the sphere grid but it’s not a game breaker for me. One thing that’s been distracting me lately is being able to recruit monsters and they work just like the other characters but the same party limitations apply. I’d really like to see a new FF game with the 4-person group setup, it’s just so much more dynamic than 3. I like the towns you can wander around and speak to people which reminds me of the older FFs. The chapter system has sort of gone but they still seem desperate to use a framing device for no good reason but I still am really enjoying the game and would recommend it to people who like JRPGs or the FF series. I think what I’ve been finding most irritating is the music! The old instrumentals have gone and there’s rap music instead. It’s definitely NOT a WRPG and I don’t think it has enough of a western sensibility to appeal to COD fans but I really do think it’s a lot better than FFXIII. "

^^ People shouldn't have much to worry about then. BTW how is Kate doing in Japan?
She's great, having lots of fun while working. This week and next week she's actually back in highschool to learn more Japanese and it's so funny 'cuz she has to wear the school uniform and she looks sooooo cute in it. XD They "make fun of her" because she has blue eyes with some green in them and because she can't dance. Lol? Whatever free time she isn't at school or working, she's playing FFXIII-2

It's the original look of Omega way back in FFV. First time it's been seen in 3D I believe.

Personally, I'm looking forward to it - looks like they'll be taking the elements which worked from FFXIII and mashing them up with a more old-school approach to the rest of the game design...Not a fan of the pop music with singing though...
Yeah, in the end we all want Uematsu back permanent but we know that's just not going to happen., at least not for a very long while and that's a big maybe. We need to move on. Yoko Shinomura who is doing VsXIII and the Kingdom Hearts franchise does good music but she seems to exclusively do KH so meh.

I agree, besides the story, and gambit system my problem with FF Xll is that it should've been called FF Tactics Origins instead of a numbered main series title. Reason being that lots of the lore from FF Tactics, and Vagrant Story is entwined with the game, and would be lost on players who didn't play any of the latter two games. Some Geth wrote...
