As you all know every thread about Origin will be closed. Here we go again, thread history can be found here (date point: 2011/12/16):

We don't really know why this happened because most of the time there were reasonable discussions about users fears and misunderstanding, however the Origin topic seems not welcome until there are some news about it. This questions we hope will be answered soon:

1) Is constant Origin connection required or is it a single one off authentification when the game is first installed. Is there also a limit to the number of installations available.
2) Is there an opt in or opt out clause for data collection.
3) Forum bans on the EA forums, will they continue to lead to locking out user's games
4) Is Origin required for the retail versions of the game (I think it likely, but I'll pop it in anyway)
5) Has Origin's scanning protocols been updated to limit overt scanning.
6) Has the EULA been updated to reflect issues in Germany and is it applicable to the UK and the rest of the EU.

subsequent questions have been.

7) Will ME3 be available on Steam.

...

Is installing Origin client optional? (At least on DvD products)
Is data collection in Origin client voluntary?

And I want to point out that the "voluntary" is in the sense that we can still play the game and use Origin without it collecting any personal data NOT in the sense that we agree to the EULA kind of voluntary where the choice is either surrender all data or be unable the game we just bought.

Hi, I' m a german, who follows the discussion of origin in the english forum sinse it started. And I was shocked, when I saw what happend there in the past few days. I never would have believed, that BioWare will practice this kind of censorship by a matter which is so important when this one.

So. Welcome to this thread to all of you, who were expelled from the english forum.

I would personally like to add the question: "Why is it taking so long to get an answer when other games have had the question regarding Origin answered pretty fast?"

And thanks for the link Anzo :)

Also, I'd like to apoligize to people that it looks like Chris used me as a copout for starting to lock the threads. I personally feel he grossly misrepresented me with his argument, but I don't want to affect a new thread with that excuse, so if anyone has anything to say on that specific matter, you're free to tell me in private messages rather than in the thread. No need to give them more excuses to lock things :-/

Not_Zero, not at the moment. We are playing some kind of Hide and Seek... I fear Nathalie maybe closes the thread if Chris asks for it.

Lol. For some reason that gave me a mental image of some sort of resistance force fighting from hiding in their hideouts :bandit:

I don't get the whole charade played by the corporation regarding Origin and ME3, though. I mean, they anounced pretty quickly that you couldn't get bf3 without it, and they likewise anounced somewhat snappy that you would be able to play The old republic without Origin. So why is ME3 special in their lack of willingess to answer the simple question?

I think at the first two months they don't really cared about the complaints and so they just released the ME3 EULA on their website (Origin client required to play...). There were no reason for BW to react. The statement was clear. But now EA got attention from several sites and they discovered something has to be changed. EA won't let Origin go, it's their digital future. I believe at the moment EA doesn't really know how they can keep their plans on one side and handle the requests on the other site. And BW has to wait?

they could just make the retail me3 origin free, and implement a me2 drm system, but u now know why they wanted to implement MP on me3, to try to shove origin down with a excuse

The retail version is more than enough for me. I never bought something else then the retail version of a game.

But I think you are right, Marauder. The MP part of ME 3 only exists to give EA a reason to force the game to be needed origin.

I'm not so sure about that. SW:TOR is multiplayer and does not require Origin.

Seems Chris found that thread :?

He's not even making excuses anymore. Now it's just "I'm locking all threads where people discuss "Origin and ME3" to cut off discussion and open debates because I can." (not an actual quote, but what it feels like to me when I look at his lockdowns)

Looks more and more like they just want to try and see if they can make people forget the issues people can have with Origin if they can keep down the voices of 'dissent'. While I can certainly see the logic from the corporations point of view in trying to 'fight' for their product (Origin), the way they are doing it tells me EA hasn't learned a thing about customer relations in the process. They're still just trying to bully their way instead of actually making the customers feel like appreciated customers.

Kinda futile of them the way they are going about it, really. It's the internet we are talking about, after all... And SOPA still haven't been accepted, so they can't wield it as a club against random discussion sites.

In case Chris happens on this thread too, is there a unified place we can move to, to keep things going?

I don't know an EA related one and I don't want to post on their forums. They didn't answered the questions there in September, but they locked all threads except one. I don't know if it's still open. Besides, the EA forum sends you back here to the ME3 forum.

Maybe the World of Player forum? They are not interested in locking threads if there are reasonable discussions only on flaming or trolling.

I don't believe, that this thread will be close. Beside this we have here an origin-thread over 70 pages long that is still open.

But the message that Chris sends is quite clear. It means "shut up!"

And I hate orders!

I hope Nathalie will not get an order from Chris she has to follow.

I really don't understand the purposes of closing threads. They must know that people will go to another place. They just banned the current discussion out of the BW forum. But if someone search for the word Origin he will find the closed threads and also the posts in it. So it makes no sense to me if they not remove the complete thread, all the opinions are still there.

The disadvantage of this thread is its unknown state and some of the people don't want to write anymore. They are simply pissed off.

@anzolino

can you post the link of the last closed thread in the beginner post?

P.S. Is this correct english which I use here? I am not used to use english in writing ^_^

Chris Priestly's closing of the thread was a pathetically-obvious cover-up attempt. I think EA is worried about word getting out and America doing everything Germany has done (and hopefully more).

Everyone, take a look at Germany's reaction to EA's Spyware.

On EA's forum, they recently said that it wasn't actually origin going through the files, but rather a windows process. However, someone posted a tidbit from Microsoft saying they have no such program. Who to believe?

Take a good, hard look at how EA personell treat their customers.

This is absolutely rediculous. Now we have Chris Priestly going around going "Hurr LOCKDOWN!" Which really translates into, "EA says shut up! You're hurting the sales!"

I'll probably get banned if this is found..but who cares. I'll make another account.
