I think I would only choose Ashley for RPG reasons as I don't like her to begin with.

Depends on if I have a hold of the Shadow Broker's information yet, or if I rely on Liara for it.

If I don't have it, well, Liara has a lot more potential influence than the VS, so I'm not sure I can justify saving the VS in the face of the Reaper invasion.

If I already have the SB information, the VS could be more useful as another Spectre (which I may not be), but if we're going to need more Prothean mumbo jumbo, Liara would be the obvious choice.

It depends on which of my PC's I'm playing. However, I'll certainly have one of my PC's go for the one that he/she isn't romantically involved with and let the one he/she is involved with die. I have a full paragon character that told the fleet to concentrate on Sovereign in ME1 and let Cerberus have the Collector base in ME2 and I'm using this character to test and follow certain avenues that would represent an interesting path for a 'good' guy faced with monumental(ly tough) decisions.

Unless there's a compelling reason to save the non-LI character my Shepards would choose to save their LI first. So that makes 3 for Liara and 1 for Ashley.

I'm not a fan of Liara, but I'd save her over Ashley [who I do like very much.] Unless Liara showed some signs of going powerhungry from her new job, it'd be really really hard to betray someone who has always had trust in you. Even if, characterwise, my Shepard felt closer to the VS.

Well, most of my Shepards aint too happy about the fact that Liara gave their body to Cerberus sooo yeah, VS all the way I guess. I don't mind Liara, she's a good character etc but I also have a thing for "squadmate vs player character" conflicts and the VS conflict/misunderstanding story is just awesome.

Between Liara and Kaidan, Kaidan no doubt. Between Ashley and Liara (if Ashley was alive in one of my playthroughs) Ashley. Kaidan and Ash are my first and third favorite squadmates, and while there's nothing wrong with Liara, I didn't like her personality in ME2.

Why bashing Liara?
I mean we all can have our own playthrough and own head canon ... :happy:

And just because I can't sacrifice Ash in my "head canon" it doesn't mean I don't like Liara (or Kaidan).

You forgot to mention that Liara can't be killed, she is literally invincible no matter how many mistakes Shepard makes

Anyway, for me hands-down I would save the VS, preferably Kaidan but saving Ash is an option too.

As to who I'd save, well, post-leaks, I'm mashing the Liara button with foam coming out of my mouth. Even if I didn't know the bit of idiocy behind this scene that err'body except the OP has already spoiled in this thread, I'd pick Liara, because she saved Shep's @ss. Well, brought him back. That deserves compensation for Miss Blueberry.


But also because there are some very vocal VS fans who are character-bashing douchebags. Yes, apparently yelling "CHARACTER X SUCKZ0RZ HARD" with a Kaidan/Ashley siggy/profile pic will start subconcious enmity towards the VS. Wow, who woulda guessed?
