Seriously, people, this is pretty much the same armor FemShep wears in ME2. Not that that's a bad thing. I'm just surprised at how many folks seem unaware of this. Did you guys completely forget to play FemShep in ME2 or something?

Definately a big improvement in my opinion, Ashley's old armor made it look like she had National Geographic old lady boobs during cinematics.

Looks good on her... though am I the only one noticing that this is literally just femshep's N7 armor from ME2 recolored? I've worn that exact armor for ages on my femsehp in ME2.

Not new armor at all, just femshep's armor on Ashley... not a complaint though, it suits her.

EDIT:

i.e. here's my shep wearing the N7 chestplate (though she's wearing kestrel pauldrons and leggings though here.. but you get the idea... just different color basically)

It's really close, but it's not identical.  The most obvious difference is the texturing: it lacks the woven mesh appearance.

The Shep armors in ME2 (even the oddball ones like the Collector Armor) are all built from the same basic model.  So was Miranda's AAP2 armor. It's not as close as Ash's, but it too was a tweaked version of the basic N7 template.

Nah, Smud isn't quite that bad. To be honest, I'm real happy they didn't create something completely different, as that would potentially turn out bad. I think FemShep's ME2 armor is just about perfect. So if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?

Plus, Didy is right that the textures are slightly different.

No, he's got a unique mask.  The Blue Suns/Eclipse helmets are the same, though.

In fact, most armor in ME2 is just ME1 armor repainted.

The shape of the chest plate is almost exactly the same.

Which is totally fine, since I really like the N7 chestplate's design.

More original-looking armor would have been cool (or something more similar to Kaidan's), but like I said before, this is good, and I won't complain.
