Recycling.
Recycling everywhere.
Most of the geth enemies are just repainted and given different guns too.
I think even the Phantom and Nemesis are using parts of the Capacitor Chestplate.
Look familiar?
The collar elements of Liara's outfit are borrowed from the female Onyx armor.

It's important to reuse certain elements to maintain consistency, but at the same time, you want stuff to be unique enough that you can tell it apart. Delicate balance, man.1136342t54 wrote...
Meh don't see the need in making everyone's armor incredibly unique. Design seems to use tried and true methods.

Pretty obvious they were both bought at Old Space Navy.....

As for Ash's new armor, it's pretty legit. Granted I liked her pink look but just maybe that's one of the squad customization options (limited color customization).

In fact, most armor in ME2 is just ME1 armor repainted.

Hopefully there will be less copy paste enimies, ME2 had too much of it

Anyway does anyone know what "S" stands for in "S1"?
The armor looks a lot like FemShep's default armor from ME2, by the way. Not in how it is colored but in how it is built and structured. Which is a good thing for sure!
As long as it "is" armor, looks functional, and not painted in silly patterns I'm fine with it.
Seriously, it's 1000% better than the design for that "casual" outfit. The armor is simple, stylish, elegant. I want her wearing that to meetings with the Alliance brass instead!

The Shep armors in ME2 (even the oddball ones like the Collector Armor) are all built from the same basic model. So was Miranda's AAP2 armor. It's not as close as Ash's, but it too was a tweaked version of the basic N7 template.
Yeah, pretty much all of them have the same collar.
I was talking more about the underlying geometry. Also, appearance wise, they all have that same mesh layer underneath that the various types of plating are "strapped" to. That's why that stuff they gave us about the special armors being one-piece constructions that couldn't be broken apart was nonsense. For instance, look at the back of helmet on the Collector armor, and you'll see that it's just that Collector-style "face" glued onto the N7 helmet.

I've never noticed that. That's kind of awesome.

Yeah i know what you mean. Honestly, there are LOTS of stuff reused in Mass Effect ( character faces, outfits, hairstyles, animations ).. I guess thats because they made the universe so big to the point where.. it makes sense to reuse stuff i guess.

Not really any worse than ME1 was. Better in some ways.

Oh yeah. I saw that too.
I'm not complaining, though. As long as it looks good, it works.

But what can we really expect a game developer to do, create a million different enemies for one level?
Variation is good, but it's nice to look at an enemy and know what to expect.

Depends. With Garrus he using a more custom heavy Turian armor. It isn't like he was able to afford the best armor on Omega lol. Ashley using a similar armor to Shepard makes sense since she would likely have been a rather good Alliance spec ops officer. She could get something else but may have chosen to just keep things simple and get whatever the Alliance will give her.
