I don't get why people are seemingly incapable of understanding that Jack, Samara, and Miranda AREN'T WEARING ARMOR! NO! This is not "Bioware's version of armor". It is "Bioware's version of a jumpsuit (equivalent).

Seriously. People. Stop posting images of Miranda and friends, just because you don't know how to properly define armor. Kasumi and Tali also don't wear armor, but nobody complains about them.

Kasumi is supposed to be a ninja-like character, though. It'd be a bit weird if she suddenly starts jumping all over the place dressed in heavy armor.

Tali gets at least some armor via the AA outfit.

With the rest, there's really no excuse beyond looks.

Mass effect shields and tech/biotics.
Your turn.

There clothing clearly reflects WHAT they are supposed to specialize in ABOVE all.

So Miranda and Samara are supposed to specialize in being prostitutes?

Benezia's boobs were more of a gravity challenge then Samara's are if you ask me. Them old asari matriarch's seem to like to exploit their sexuality, honestly if I was 500+ years old and my rack looked like that, so would I.

Miri exploits her genetic advantage through the outfit i'd say, plus she's a stronger biotic through the manipulation aswell, makes sense to me. While sure, alternative reasons are purely cleevage, it's not un-justifyable in the setting.

Plus, if you're going to pay XY for a body and facemodel, you might aswell not stick her in a potato-suit.
Having said that I have nothing against a girl in armour, I just think the whole cleevage thing is blown out of proportion. If these girls feel confident enough to flaunt their 'god-given gifts' then good for them. I would think their actions define them in the end.

Miranda openly admits that she can use her looks to give her an "edge".

In an earlier thread this year, several members reasoned that, with age, asari breast size grows. Bigger boobs =/= a particulary sexually enticing thing for a race of all female (in appearance) creatures. As such, we reasoned that showing your breasts was more a sign of maturity and wisdom, maybe even strength (like muscular men wearing sleeveless shirts). It would explain why Benezia did the same.

OH-- I understand that, from a dev standpoint, it was for raw sex appeal. But from a lore standpoint it could easily be justified and believable.

But none of that matters, because tight clothes + good body =/= prostitution. Now, I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that you're a basement dweller who rarely goes outside to see how people look, dress, and act today. I hope I'm wrong, but I know that there are a lot of basement dwellers on this forum.

And Miranda is supposed to be an agent. Thane, an assassin. Samara, a warrior monk. Mordin, a doctor. There clothing clearly reflects WHAT they are supposed to specialize in ABOVE all.

Correction: Miranda is supposed to be an officer. And even agents would know that armor is better than that...thing she's wearing.

100k wrote...

So does Miranda. In fact, she gets pretty hefty armor. I see no mention of it in this argument though (until now).

That's because Tali and Miranda has two very different roles. Tali is supposed to be a supporter. Not a front line soldier.

And if Miranda is supposed to be a Sentinel-like fighter (I have seen people make that argument) then she should be able to take some serious punishment. I don't think that skimpy outfit is going to cut it.

100k wrote...

The excuse is so clear, you probably think its invisible: some of the best fighters in the galaxy...AREN'T soldiers! *gasp*

And it shows. It really shows.

Just because you're a good fighter doesn't make you're immune to bullets. Some characters are very well aware of this and adapts to it.

Thane is using stealth to catch his enemies off guard, Mordin relies on tech attacks and his sometimes his appearance to take his enemies off guard as well.

Samara. A warrior monk? Yeah, I think even monks would dress themselves in a little more respectable clothing than that.

While I admire unique looks, things like the breathers and the heels just pisses me off.

You should see how fast I can run on heels, not to mention being able to dish quite a nice amount of damage out with them should you 'accidentally' land a heel on specific body parts.
Heels are about balance. I'd rather be wearing a pair of heeled boots then not tbh.
(specially if I could, you know, float through the freaking sky with biotics)

Well not through a swamp, obviously.
Though again if your name's Samara, you could just float over the puddles. Win.
But yeah I'm pretty sure I can walk on uneven terrain, and run. But we're not talking stiletto's here.

I suppose it's all about practice with heels then I guess.....

As for what the armor looks like I don't really care. I wouldn't doubt the developers put a little reference to "Armor-Gate" in the game....

That doesn't help your argument in the least. Oh well, she's an officer who dresses in tight clothes. She's smarter than anyone on this forum (if she were real). She can wear whatever the hell she wants, and as a smart woman she decided that the value of armor wasn't as good as her jumpsuit.

Deal wit it.

That's because Tali and Miranda has two very different roles. Tali is supposed to be a supporter. Not a front line soldier.

Miranda thinks her outfit will cut it. Plus shes a biotic, so she probably has barriers to protect her if her shields go down.

Mordin relies on tech attacks and his sometimes his appearance to take his enemies off guard as well.

Miranda does the same, only with biotics and tech skills.

Samara. A warrior monk? Yeah, I think even monks would dress themselves in a little more respectable clothing than that.

Well, its good to know we have an expert on asari culture and fashion here.

While I admire unique looks, things like the breathers and the heels just pisses me off.

Me too. But if these characters have a reason for why they dress the way they do (and each of them is incredibly smart) then any reasoning you can come up with is mute. This character is comfortable conforming to their own rules.

I like your point about Benezia, but she never fought anyone in an oxygen-free environment.  If I'm going out into space, I'm wearing a space suit.  As to the part I bolded, Yvonne Strahovski and Rana McAnear were face models for the characters, not body models.  As a fan of Chuck, I can tell you for certain that Yvonne Strahovski was not the inspiration for Miranda's curves.

I also have nothing against characters flaunting it if it fits their personality (which is why I never mentioned Jack).  But when flaunting it means they can't cover up when going on missions where a space suit is necessary, that's just crazy.  Yes, Zaeed, Thane, and possibly Jacob (don't use him, so don't know) are also guilty of this.  To be fair, all of the guilty should be mentioned together.  It's just that the cleaveage is so much more obvious than Zaeed's right arm.

Oh, and 100k, you may hope you're wrong, but it certainly didn't stop you from launching into an ad hominem attack against me.  Tell me, where exactly am I supposed to go to see "people today" exposing skin in unbreathable environments?

Actually, it's not just them; it's practically everyone. IIRC, the only ME2 squadmates who actually covered every square inch of skin properly were Tali, Garrus, and Legion. The rest all had bubble masks or bare arms.

SEE PEOPLE ? ASHLEY HAS AN ARMOR !!!! ZOMG ! YES TRUE STORY !

Who was right ? I want my money, NOW !

Now, I hope everybody is happy and people will stop complaining about things with Ashley. Customization, that's great, because each one can choose what he wants, without anybody to choose for him.

AND thank you Bioware, Ashley looks gorgeous !!! I just hope she will be taller in M3 lol, she didn't strike me as small compared to Shepard in M1 and M2.

Nah i'm not done complaining yet. I still see that her hair is down in the battlefield. I believe that screenshot is the same place that occurs during the "squadleader" video.

We were told she gets a helmet, which I am much more optimistic about, but I am still annoyed that as a soldier ashley is letting her hair loose during operations.

While I wouldn't say quite different, there are indeed changes. Which makes me think the people claiming otherwise are not looking.

The nose is different (or tweaked as someone said) definitely, and I don't know if her eyes are always half closed in every screenshot or her eye makeup is making her look sleepy.

The nose is hard to judge, to me it just looks ike the better lighting makes it look sharper then before. As to the eyes, she always had bedroom eyes, just heavier lids now due to the makeup yeah.
I really don't see that much change in her, the textures have definately improved through, that's for sure.

I didn't say it was easy, I judge it to be possible, and quite usefull if you have the balance and put in the time to practice.

No its not the lighting. It was most definitely changed, it used to be much more blatant following more in line with the elves of DA 2 believe it or not, but her nose is definitely different and points downwards more than before.

I would also request they scale back on the makeup, just to give her less sleepy eye. Less makeup is more, especially during a genocidal war of survival.
