For eff's sake, femShep had largely avoided that, and then BOOM, "Herp derp, let's stick her in a cocktail dress lol."

I find this reasoning offensive to FemShep's character. I know your screen name is killjoy but man, this is just suprising.

You may not like it but it is no less true.

Still, I can't say I minded. Glad I don't play a femshep though.

A leather mini-dress is "classy"?  Why no choice?  Why no outfit more suited to a full range of femShep characterizations?  Why that particular short and low-cut look?  Why would a powerful mercenary commander (Allison Gunn) go to party for the who's who of shady characters dressed like a damn hostess?

"Low-cut"? Now I know you're just joking around. You have to be.

Compared to anything else she wears in either game?  Yeah, it's down there.

Look, KillJoy, maybe Bioware increased Ashley's cupsize a bit for ME3 (although it was not a "Team Ninja" increase by any means), but they did the same thing with MaleShep's muscles from ME1 to ME2.  No guy was offended that they beefed him up a little bit, and no girl would be offended if they did the equivelant to FemShep or Ashley (boobs) for ME3.  It is a video game after all, everything is going to be a bit more over the top than other mediums (even though I still maintain that Ashley's chest is really not over the top at all still).  We are going to be looking at these character models for a long time.  They are not real people.  The guys are wanna see the girl character models have some nice curves, and the girls are gonna wanna see the guy character models have nice guns.  It's the way of the world, and while some aspects of body image and beauty are socially constructed by culture and the media, most of it is just evolution and biology.  It's really not that big of a deal; Bioware did not change Ashley into Taki from Soul Calibur.  She still has all of her character depth with slightly bigger boobs; all of the character models have been redone since ME1, not just hers.

I'm sorry, since when did it become a crime to have anything larger than an A-cup?

It's not.

It is however suspect for the armor designs to change over time to increasingly titilate, if you'll pardon the pun.

With all due respect, it already changed in ME2 for FemShep.  This isn't an Ashley-specific issue and I wish the thread hadn't gotten hung-up on it.

Really. Her boobs are a bit bigger. Whoopiedeedoo. As long as they aren't bouncing in the wind or look ridiculously huge I don't care.

And as a female, are you offended by slightly larger breasts on character models?  Because I wasn't offended as a male when my Shepard looked a bit more cut in ME2.  Personally, I am not that ripped in real life, I'm 5'8'' 140 lbs, but when I'm playing a game in which I am a space marine action hero I really don't mind my avatar being a fine specimen.

When character models are redone, there are going to be slight differences, and if they want to make my Mass Effect experience a bit sexier, that's fine by me.  It is a pretty sexy, heroic story after all.  As long as it's not gratuitous, which I don't know how anybody can say that Ashley's armor is, then it's all good.

Breasts are equivalent to muscles. You heard it here first, people.

...can't tell if serious or sarcastic.  Breasts do equal muscles in terms of phenotypic traits designed to attract sexual partners.

Since you ask, I'm far less offended by large breasts on female characters than I am by the twig-like arms they're often given.  But, again, this is off-topic.

Okay I don't really care about her boobs (I'm female for reference) but breasts don't symbolize strength and power like muscles do. The day they do is the day I'll consider increasing the size of them to be equal.

Frankly I didn't mind either increase (male Shep or fem shep) It wasn't overly drastic so whatevs. The day Dude Shep starts looking overly buff is the day I'll start b**ching. (Ugh I stayed far away from that colonist outfit too. Shep's arms...bleh. I liked the original far better). [same with femShep frankly].

Haha I'm guessing you are speaking of Miranda and the toothpicks that were jutting out of her sides.  How she lifted that Predator pistol I will never know.

I don't think it's really off-topic though.  Ashley's armor discussion is going to inevitably lead to body image discussions and media-portrayal of both women and men.

And I've commented to that effect regarding the change from ME1 to ME2.

Muscles are "designed to attract sexual partners?" I thought they evolved because they allow motion and interaction with objects, which are pretty useful tricks. Shows you what I know.

I half wish for a joke mode where FemShep and Dude Shep walk around naked with their bits blurred out and Harby's so busy perving that killing him becomes a joke. :bandit:

He even makes them crawl through a honey filled duct to reach him.

Well the BSN isn't really a place for education, but if you are disagreeing with my above statement I would recommend some research on the subject.  Yes there is a practical application for muscles, just as there is a practical application for breasts, but they are secondary sexual traits on men and women respectively.

You just know she's sporting a miniskirt and a pair of high heel boots below the belt.

Nah, I kid. I'm very grateful for some actual armor. I don't even care if it has high heels. As long as it's not leather and has a booby-window.
