Yeah, maybe Shepard did... but it's not like we got to choose what we wanted our squadmates to wear...
unlike in ME1 where we could change them into however many different armors we wanted. One step forward with armor pieces and customization, two steps backward with not allowing us to do the same for our squadmates and "iconic" looks and some without any armor at all.

You're forgetting one thing though. Military protocol doesn't just exist for the lulz. There is a very practical reason why one would want either short hair or tied-back hair when deployed for extended periods of time in the field. I'll let you figure that one out on your own.Obvakhi wrote...
All I see is a lot of 'me me me!' in that post, just what you want. You seem to be forgetting that Ash is a Spectre, she doesn't have to follow military protocol.
I have no problem with characters changing hairstyles.
Enjoy your helmets. Hope Ash can breathe.
Or, ya know, armor.

Poor Jacob.
Indeed it is convenient, but at least it makes sense. Unlike Ash's casual outfit...
At least it doesn't look completely ridiculous. Unlike Ash's casual outfit...
and at least it fits with his role of trying to be quick, stealthy, or what have you. HE LOOKS HIS PART. Unlike Ash does in that getup of hers.
Armor Ash looks the way she needs to. And guess what, still hot, still sexy... still... APPEALING!
And yes,
poor Jacob. lol

It seems that way for all the extra outfits I've seen. Liara red and black is absolutely stunning visually compared to her white and blue. (Plus, those colors go so well together).

You know what annoyed me, though? BroShep gets a kiss from Gianna, but FemShep gets called a stripper. THANKS, Bioware.
Well not everyone in a BioWare game can be bi-sexual.
And this isn't Thedas, so yeah, this isn't the Great Bisexual Future that some seem to want...

And how is that relevant to a video game? I think you should figure that out.
Don't worry, the bullets can't hurt you. Just a videogame.
Let me also add that Mass Effect is not completely disconnected from our own universe. Quite the opposite: for all practical purposes, the MEverse IS our universe, just 170-ish years in the future. Also, the presence of fantastic sci-fi elements (FTL travel, spaceships, aliens, etc.) does not preclude basic common sense when it comes to the mundane things. A block of wood is still lighter than a block of lead. If you jump in the air on a planet you eventually come down. Humans still cannot survive in vacuum without special equipment and sealed suits. Long, unkempt hair is still higher maintenance than short hair, especially if you can't take a shower every day because you're in the middle of a warzone.
Supurbly posted.

Wow its so pink even the white parts look pink
Never said pink was bad, said bright pink was bad. The kind of pink that makes my eyes bleed. Although to be fair I didn't particularly like the pheonix armor, but I didn't mind it much. Aside from the color it is functional armor, and there must be a reason for it.
Before we knew ashley was a gunnery chief I thought it was biowares way of telling us she was a medic or something.
Frankly, brightly-colored combat armor such as the Phoenix makes no damn sense. It screams HERE I AM SHOOT ME!

My personal head-canon for this is that, unless electronically jammed (and jamming can, itself, be countered), suit energy signatures are so clear to electronic combat equipment that camo colours because irrevelent and pointless. Instead, the colour scheme of a particular manufacturer's armour becomes a way of advertising said manufacturer's wares. "Be successful like this squad that wears Phoenix armour and enjoys the benefits of health regeneration without having to use extra armour mods."Killjoy Cutter wrote...

Of course, given that armour can now apparently have any colour one wants (as of ME2) and still be the same armour, the point seems moot. Or maybe that's just Shepard's amazing Cerberus no-expense-spared (recycled by the facricator?) armour.

I don't know. Sure, it looks kind of cheap and funny, but I can understand the unbuttoned tunic more than I can understand the dominatrix boobie-window outfit. I just find the boobie-window more laughable than the standard cleavage.
Still, as long as she wears a proper armor in combat, I am happy and she can dress however she likes on the ship. Maybe it's OOC, maybe it's not, but I wouldn't call it sexist unless all of the women on the squad are dressed like that.
Also, I am totally downloading a mod that changes the color of her... Pants? Tights?... When it comes out.

Not really. The design of the outfit is good. The boob window isn't. It would be almost like saying a Naval officer's uniform looks more professional than a regular T shirt and jeans but it now has a boob window in it for some reason.
