Alright so I'm kidding ^^ but in all seriousness, I love the guy and can't see how anyone could disagree. He may not have the most screen time out of any character in the series, but his personality is extremely strong, noticeable and very alpha-male. He certainly stands out amongst a large amount of the other supporting character cast who can occasionally come across as a bit of a walking bank of exposition sometimes (see Nihlus, Saren, Sovereign, etc). Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on any of those characters (Sovereign doesn't say a lot, but by god does he come across as badass) I'm just saiyng that Udina's personality shines through a bit ^^
Perhaps he can sometimes come across as callous. Perhaps he can come across as rude. But we all know, deep in our hearts, Udina always has the best interests of humanity in his mind and would do anything to advance their position within the galactic community. and give our own species more power.
But don't look too deeply into this, Udina is not a racist. He is simply pro-human. For years he has gently been worming his way into the minds of the other Citadel councillors and planting seeds of possibility within their minds - it is thanks to Udina that Commander Shepard was even considered to become a spectre. It is thanks to Udina that humanity made it as far as it did before Commander Shepard came along. It is thanks to Udina that the Council even considered listening to accusations against Saren. His crude, forceful approach certainly has undeniable usefulness, and has made humanity as a whole much stronger.
It is easy to become irritated with the poor guy - his mishandling of the events before Ilos in the first game causing the Normandy to get locked down is certainly a legitimate reason to be displeased, But hey, he gets his comeuppance via a fist from Anderson (.....not like that....) and so live and let live I say. Udina had the best interests of humanity at heart, and by that logic, he had the best interests of you, the reader, in his mind when he made that decision. And I would've done the same. If a friend approached me to tell me the world would end because of some crazy visions I had, I would dismiss them too. It really isn't fair to hold a grudge.
What can I say? I love Udina, and if you made it this far you should too. He is one of the stronger supporting characters, and if I dare say so, his voice is certainly something that would be hard to say 'no' to. I really hope that Mass Effect 3 introduces a concept of out-of-party npcs that can be romanced. Sure, I can see why Shepard would grow to like someone that she travels with (my Shepard is female, sorry to all the brosheps out there), but I don't see why she couldn't love someone who she has to reluctantly leave to go save the galaxy. The idea of Udina sitting at his desk, a mountainload of paperwork in front of him while he stares ahead - worrying about his true love travelling the stars in search of answers.... it warms my heart to think of him doing that. Sure it goes against basic gender roles (omgwtfbbq a man waiting for a woman to come back from war?) but shrug, this is the future where Shepard and Ashely can reach high military ranks without any stupid comments. This is a future of true equality, a future created in no small part by our own lovely Udina.
I'd even settle for same-sex romance - I wouldn't put it past Udina to dig a broshep a fair amount - paticularly if he is renegade. Udina likes the bad boys
Maybe he doesn't like alies all that much, but all the more reason to love _all_ humans, right? Shepard and Udina together, hand in hand, advancing humanity for the good of us all. I can see it now ^^ Well this post is getting way too long now so I guess I should come to a conclusion - Udina is a sweet, strong man, with the ambition and confidence needed to do whats necessary for humanity. Udina can be the brains, my Shepard the brawn. Please bioware, let my dream come true, let us bring humanity to its peak together! Udina and Shepard hand in hand, fighting for us all. Nothing can stop the power of true love <3.
He reminds me in part of Jeremiah Gottwald from Code Geass. Loyalty above all else! All Hail Humanity!

Even though I kind of thought Udina was a bit of a jerk, I had the feeling that he wasn't acting on his own interests; he was trying to get humanity a bigger role in the galactic community, and through his (albeit pushy, slightly back stabbing, and blunt) actions, he probably was the reason why the council paid a bit more attention to the humans; if the human ambassador didn't have Udina's forceful attitude, then they probably would not have made the same amount of progress.
