Yes, I usually leave Ash on Virmire, so I really miss her most of the times.

I enjoyed the few scenes with them together, so I was saddened that we couldn't keep them both. However, what is done is done, and I now have playthroughs that see both through to the end of their paths with Shepard. What needs to be done lies ahead, not behind.

Yeah, they're my favorite characters in Mass Effect and yet I can only have one or the other.
I usually just choose Kaidan though because I almost always romance him. I have one playthrough where Ash is alive. But I loved their banter and they're pretty much always on my squad pre-Virmire.
