i am stuck in this game where my next and only option to go is the dwarven area. i want to beat the game but i am dreading spending the hours it is going to take to get through this area.
i am just curious, am i the only one who hates dwarves and grinding through their underground cities and endless tunnels?
i thought of posting this because i was just wishing that orzammar (how cute the name even soundes like ORE-zammar) was DLC so that i didn't have to play through it. but then i started thinking even deeper, what if DAO actually gave me an option to release my hatred for the dwarves? what if i could DESTROY THEM!!! i would love it!!! wouldn't it be great if i could force the dwarves into extinction!!!
oh how levely it would be if instead of entering this dreadded city and interacting with these stout morons, i could send sten, zevran, and my doggy out on a mission to find all possible exits from there city then have morrigan cast a spell to cause a landslide at each exit and lock tham all inside forever!!!
now that would be role playing at its finest!!!

Everyone knows that dwarves are supposed to speak with a Scottish accent.

I've never been a fan of dwarves either, but I actually like them in Dragon Age. Giving their city an Aztec feel was awesome, and I for one am SO GLAD that they don't all sound scottish. So cliche that is.

They are incredibly well done here.
Up until this game I didn't like Dwarves either... so I hear ya about those grievances. I wasn't far off long ago.

well, i must say, before this game i also hated elves, but after playing the elven origins stories, and even creating them with the CC - before the game was released - i am all about the elves. most of my characters are elves. my main is the elf you see over there by my name <----------------. come to think of it they are all elves so far! even my mage!
Yeah, this is the first time I've seen elves portrayed as slaves to humans. Usually they are immortal, insanely attractive, god-like beings. Interesting twist.

As to the topic: I've always liked Dwarfs. But I have to say, I really like the way this game handles them. Very different and refreshing. A warning: the Orzammar part of the story is long, so I hope you can find some way to overcome your loathing of the Dwarfs.

You'd have to be crazy to play that origin and still hate dwarves.

It's certainly how he made mine. If only Alistair had some of that gay elf blood in him.
Well, according to Morrigan and Oghren, Alistair's sexual orientation is still open for debate...

i dunno KalosCast, why are you here?
Because people who buy a game chock full of dwarves and then whine about how much they suck... while not even experiencing their portion of the game need to be mocked. It's my oddly-specific hobby.

Now, elves on the other hand...I've yet to be convinced. I've never been able to play an elf under any circumstances. I just can't stand them. Weak, frivolous, and flighty. The one's in DAO well done - however, they make my stomach churn a bit. With the exception of Zathrian, I find most of their personalities pathetic. I can only see myself playing one briefly for the origin stories.
