I think there are plenty of temp squad mates right? So for the people who aren't happy you aren't totally left hanging out.

Seemed that way.

Certain missions will have certain characters accompany you. Think Anderson in the earth demo. Otherwise you do get to choose from James, Ashley, Liara, Garrus, etc

I really hope I like Vega - because VS and Vega are the only two I'm going to use the whole game. The rest are my least favorites.

From what I've seen, Vega is very....Varric-like, in a lot of ways. Great sense of humor, gives nicknames to pretty much everyone(Shepard included). He just a lot younger than Varric, and carries a bit more baggage. I like him, based on the things I've seen. And that's a good thing, since one way or another, he's going to be on the ship with Shepard, just like Liara. Everybody else, as far as I can tell, you have an option not to recruit, or send them away. Those two are the 'forced' squadmates so the game does not implode due to a lack of squaddies.

Ugh. Why's the band back together? ME2 was ALL about getting to actually KNOW our squadmates. I know a lot more about the ME2 squadmates than I do about the originals and have a way stronger connection with them, except for Tali and Garrus I suppose...Gives me Jack, dammit! :crying:

yeah thats sad that ME 2 is now utterly worthless and the relationships with those character are flushed down the toliet in ME 3 . and we are stuck with the ME 1 crew that is with out wrex . I hope I like Vega and I guess I will roll with Garrus and him since I have no interest in using Liara and I hate Tali .

interesting, because I'm pretty sure some will find disconnect with the squad members from ME2. At the end of the day, it's all about preferences, right?

Me personally I like that the original squad will be back, fills like the game has gone full circle.

What option do we have are you saying we can opt not have garrus and Tali on the squad and can replace them with some else . if so it makes it a little easier to deal with it

No, you don't get replacements. If I had a dollar for every time I've had to tell someone that...

Of course it has since ME 3 basically picks up at the end of 1 . yeah another clear reason why no one should ever play ME 2 again it really is pointless and the whole building relationships with the squad from 2 was a load of horse sh*t by Bioware .

None I plan to outright leave on the ship, though if Tali's power set is as bad as it was in ME2, she won't be coming with me anywhere.

Tali and Garrus but more than anything just plain Tali are absolutely irreplaceable and far beyond absolutely awesome. The spoiler companion that is in ME2 just blew my mind and just made me a trillion times more hyped up for the game. I can see why BioWare would want to keep this a secret but if they advertised it instead their preorder and sales numbers for ME3 would multiply dozens of times over and ME3 is already the most preordered game in North America.

Hold the phone, there's only 7 permanent squaddies? The hell did this happen? Leaked script?

I don't care, spoil them for me!

Well, as this thread already has spoilers anyway...

Tali
Garrus
Liara
Vega
VS

Highlight below for the last two:
EDI
Prothean

I knew about the second spoiler squaddie (although I know nothing about them apart from their existance) but that first spoiler squaddie really threw me.

Probably shouldn't have read them - I really want to know more now but at the same time I want to go into ME3 with as little info as possible.

Being as vague as possible for anyone that didn't highlight them - is *spoiler squaddie 1* an actual, physical squadmate that can come onto the battlefield with you?

Most of them have important story roles. Shepard's relationship with them, and their roles int he story, don't end just because they're not on the Normandy all the time. Take Mordin for example - it wouldn't make sense for him to be stuck on the Normandy, what with the Krogan situation.

It's sad how much ME2 fans have been given the cold shoulder for three. I mean I like having most of the SR1 crew back, it just feels right to me, but we REALLY should have at least one of the SR2 squad back.

I mean it's a really quite baffling choice on Biowares part. Despite the very vocal minority on these boards, ME2 is easily more popular and critically received than ME1. The ME2 characters have th larger fanbases, are more fleshed out, and are far too important to have been given the shaft like they have.

It's worse for PS3 players of course, like my fiancée, who have zero attachment to the SR1 guys other than Tali and Garrus.

Yes but you can't really build a meaningful relationship with them if they're not actually there with you for a decent duration of the game...seeing them for a few cameos. What else can you do if they're not with you constantly besides sharing a kiss or something, or just some quick sex is NOT really satisfying =(

I haven't read the script so I may be wrong, but I would imagine that your LI will join you on the Normandy, and remain there, at some point.

The writers at Bioware clearly spent a lot of time writing the ME2 characters. Those same writers wrote ME3, so do you really think they'd let all their hard work go to a few cameos?

That's the thing...I'm so pissed because I've been told by people who read the script that you barely see them, if at all....*RAGE*

But, they did say the script seemed very incomplete and probably not finished...*crosses fingers*

I have read the script, and you imagine wrong, and they actually did just that, yes.

The DLC squadmate isn't a surprise. It was obvious.
But the other? I can hardly believe it...
Now I want to play the game to see why he/she/it is in our team.

Just remember, children like Cthulhu who are smugly claiming that there won't be replacements if Tali and Garrus died in ME3 are basing their claims on the leaks.

The same leaks that also make no mention of Tali revealing her face (nerd suicide plz!) or getting impregnated by Shepard. And when you bring these things up, they will simply respond with "the leaks are a draft and nothing is final".

Thats objectivity for you, Talimancer style!

Actually, that thing was confirmed by BioWare long time before the leaks hit the internet.
