Roleplaying PW: a PW is a Persistant World. Think "mini MMO" with less than 100 players. Everyone knows everyone else, and the people who host the PW take an active role in events. Roleplaying PW's focus on being in character, so if you are a rogue, you should act like it/speak like it. Kind of like participating in a renaissance fair.

Player made modules: the game's toolset was released with the game, letting everyone who wants to create their own adventures do so (given enough time). These do not have to be related at all to the official campaigns, and most are not. Some of these are better than the official campaigns, and many are very enjoyable. All PW's are made by the community, and are not official.

C in crpg: the c stands for computer.

Most books are usually (there may be exceptions) there for flavor, you can read them if you right-click, then examine. There are also recipe books (talking about enchantments here, not food), those may be useful if you're into crafting and enchanting items. There are guides about it if you're interested, but crafting is not a necessity.

Try right clicking the thieves' toolkit and the healer's kit. That should bring up a special icon on your pointer and then click on the door or party member, if memory serves. I think you also may have to have at least one rank in open lock skill to use the thieve's tools, but I'm not sure.

You might need to rest to get that 0 to a 1 or 2. You use it while in thie thick of combat it adds to a paladin's attack.

You definitely need a level in pick locks to use the theives tools

The healers kit - you just have it in your inventory and one of the icons in your power bar is a heal or something or other button - click it and then click on a party member and they will be healed a bit

If you scroll through the module list on the Vault, you can find many Community made modules that are additional adventures made by fans, like us.  There are also several projects going right now for more modules in the future.  Most of the people replying in this thread have projects going, like Jabberwocky, which you can see in my signature.  Kamal is working on a Rogue themed module with some very interesting features, and there are many more.
All of this is done with the NWN2 Toolset which is the best thing since sliced bread.

NWN2 is a giant game when you start digging in.  I'll be testing out my custom-scripted Jabberwock soon enough...I'm looking forward to a sound beating...

Don't forget NwN2 is not like Diablo or Torchlight, so there is no Mana bar. You can't spam spells and then drink a mana potion and do them again.
You have to memorise your spells which means opening the spellbook (B button I believe), select what spells you want and how many times you think you'll need them and then rest. You can then cast them easily using the F button.

Some special attacks, like Smite Evil/Turn Undead/Lay on Hands etc, have limited uses per day/rest depending on your class levels or ability scores (Charisma etc).
Once you use those you have to rest to get them back.

ALWAYS pause the game (space bar) to think your next move. This is a game that needs thinking and preparation, you can't just click on something and expect to win easily.

Also, as you level up, you will get more attacks per round (attack more often in 6 seconds), so don't think that because battles are slow now, are also slow later.

Luminus has given good advice in general, but to prevent further confusion (maybe redphive knows already, but just in case), I'll add a note:

This is only true for some classes, others, like sorcerers, don't need to memorize spells before use.

Has anyone given a link to the NWN2 Wiki site? It would answer a lot of these questions.

I think she said she is playing a Paladin now, so she would be getting some spells in some levels also. Yeah but that's easier to figure out since the spontaneous casters are kinda point based and more similar to the mana system.
