If he really doesn't have a wife, that would be a twist, although it would raise his creepiness factor. He either imagined her, or he was lying to Shepard, and "she even paid for my passage offworld" just wouldn't be funny anymore. I always imagined her being exasperated with Conrad's affection for Shepard, wondering why she ever married him in the first place, and trying to get rid of him any way she could.

At any rate, if he was married, I would be very surprised if he was still married in ME3. Eventually a person just throws up their hands and reaches for the lawyers, no?
