Personally, I thought it was overacted for the character Ashley. It's nto bad acting, not at all (great reading, actually), but it's just... ashley's character isn't this sensitive, or, I never encounteted a side this sensitive in mass effect. So to me it's not believable.

honestly I wish ALL e-mails were like that in ME2

I would have been a lot less harsh on Ashley (if I romanced her) upon getting this audio file as opposed to a bloody typed up e-mail

Agreed. It's VERY well done, but I'm surprised by how much Ashley just loses her composure in the letter. Kaidan's seems much more realistic to me. His delivery after saying how Shepard just re-appeared in his life again at Horizon is BONE-CHILLING.



Can't believe I'm saying I like something of Kaidan's better than something of Ashley's.

That was awesome. It seemed a little overly emotional to me at first, but combined w/ the situation w/ Horizon it's perfect, IMO. Brooks did an amazing job. Both her and Sbarge. Hearing the letters rather than reading them, makes a world of difference.

Hmm .. Bit outside of the topic:
In ME1, Ashley says that she believes in God. Shepard died in ME2. Since Ashley has been confirmed as a squad member for ME3, I was wondering if she will ask Shepard what it was like to be dead. Whether he's seen the other side, if he met God, and so on.

Probably none of this will happen in Mass Effect 3 but it would be interesting ...

So did Raphael. They both read the letter just for the fans, so didn't have a voice director to correct pronunciation etc.

The fact that they did this just for us fans and completely gratis is just...<3

I doubt that he would sound like in the game itself. Probably similar, but different enough to realize that it is not Thane. As with Garrus and his voice actor Brandon Keener.

Bioware used for drell and turian voices sound filters.

I think it's believable, Ashley's a very passionate/emotional woman in my mind. She'd just been angry with Shepard on Horizon and probably felt that they both acted really stupid on Horizon, that and she finally got to process that the man she loved is really still alive and now she's trying to put it in words, realising he's going on a mission that might well kill him again.

I think this would be one of the occasions that would choke up, with so many emotions to process and to try to put into words.

That's not at all out of character. She is a passionate woman, she really loved shepard,  She is struggling with her feelings after she saw her lover she thought dead, and morever she argued with him when she discovered him, said to him he was a traitor., what is especially upsetting, ( she knows she was wrong to say some things ) no ?

And she was already very emotional on horizon. Her voice, her expressions and some words used. " I almost "

I never understood this legend on the bsn, yes Ashley is tough, but not infaillible.

That's a shame...though Thane's voice is processed, yes? So his voice for Thane might not sound like the voice we've been accustomed to.
