I have one or two saves with Ashley as my LI.
I usually don't romance her, but I just felt like saying that I've had a cold the past few days, I listened to this....and I think I've been cured.

People who think Ash is too emotional in Kimberly's reading of the letter miss out on some key points that explain why the emotion is there to begin with.
Firstly the letter is being sent to Shepard post Horizon, emotionally she's had time to deal with the ramifications not only of Shepard's return but how she responded to that return, in creating the letter all these emotions would not just be stirred up, they'd be brought to the fore, so when voicing the things she say's in the letter out loud, she'd be less able to control those emotions.
Secondly, like everyone else Kimberly would have her own view on just exactly what occurred on Horizon and what Ash's state of mind was there and how its affected her since then, she may also be privy to certain info we were not (basically her characters motivation) so she would off course try to present her version of what the character is going through.
Thirdly, Ash is emotional, she can be reserved but at heart she is a very emotional character, however we only rarely get to see the emotional side of the character, the letter allows for a much fuller emotional picture to be painted than most of the other dialogue that Ash has in me1 or me2,so it off course comes off as more emotional than her normal character because its dealing with a more emotional subject in its entirety than the brief glimpse we get in game.
Lastly though its Kimberly Brooks, if this is how she sees the character and the meaning behind the letter, then who the hell are we to disagree.

As far as Ash being emotional...I think it's absolutely the most appropriate time for her to be emotional.
It's an emotional situation for the VS, in the extreme.
And also, if both Brooks and Sbarge pronounce "Ilos" as "Eeelos"---then goddamm!t--it's now pronounced "Eeelos" as far as I'm concerned.

Never cheated on Ash. I mean, I could -hear- her voice in the game already, I always imagined her sounding broken while re-reading that mail before sending it to Shepard.

This ^ Plus, I always thought Ash was pretty emotional underneath that brave soldier image. Maybe it's cause she's into poetry and such? Not sure. But the letter is amazing and really in character imo.

I've been wishing for something like that since Raphael Sbarge gave us his recording on Thanksgiving. Alas, I have no such skills, so I wait and hope.

That was beautiful. I'm super happy they both got to do this. It's something the VS fans deserved back when ME2 first came out. The old LI's seem to finally be getting what they deserve. Liara got it with LotSB, K/A get this, and also are more prominent in-game.
