Because it's spyware I'd assume.

If its truly spyware, it would be trapped by security measures on my pc - my assumption is its merely intrusive and that ticks people off - not a a big enough reason for me to get my knickers in a knot, though - enough on this - thanks back to topic.

If you allow that software to run, then your security measures will allow it too.

well, bears some looking into I guess, so thanks, but really lets drop it here - I'm sure there's plenty of discussion elsewhere - otherwise this thread will go very off-topic.

Origin IS spyware however what throws people of is that no AV will detect it as such....the reason for this is because when you agree to the EULA you completely and comprehensively give up your rights to privacy therefore technically speaking it is volutary. Once you agree to the EULA you give EA complete and absolute access to everything on your PC, you give them the right to make a profile of you and you give them the right to give all the info they get from your PC to whoever they wish whenever they wish. No matter what you have on your PC: private documents, browsing history, cookies, software etc. etc.etc. is all absolute free game for EA to do whatever they want with....by agreeing to that EULA you effectively may as well become EA property.

[sigh] i really think we should drop this - I'm sure it is thoroughly thrashed out elsewhere and to continue the discussion does a disservice to the OP - I will spend some time with the EULA - I have some experience as an IP lawyer, but not in the software industry, so I don't think I'll be too lost...

Pre-ordered it back in early August at my local Gamestop - with this particular game, I greatly prefer to pick up a physical copy in person rather than pre-order online (that way, I can start playing sooner :P ).

I'm going to wait a bit before pre-ordering, but I'll get around to it eventually.

I preordered my N7 edition way back on the first day we could, but now, after a few choice spoilers I read over the last couple days regarding two certain squad mates, my purchase is in serious doubt because it makes me wonder what other absurd or just plain stupid decisions Bioware has made for this game...

Yep, but I had to take money off of it to pay of Skyrim. So there is now 10$ on it.

I pre-ordered my copy back in the summer. You bet yer ass I'm going up there at midnight to pick it up! I can't wait to get all the neat stuff in the Collector's Edition. Now I need to find the Collector's editions of the first two. :/

After pre-ordering and indeed buying Gears of War 3's "Epic Edition", I was a bit skeptical. The EE was a let down for $150, no in-game content and not a lot of physical things either.

After seeing the trailer for the ME3: CE, oh yes, I pre-ordered it. More than the $150 EE, with twice the content.

I preorder a copy from my local game stop as soon as it was availble. I just need to pay it off now that all the other games ahead of it have been fully paid off. Thanks to them, I will have my hands full while waiting for this game.
Regarding Retail DLC, Gamestop is very likely to do some if their record is anything to go by and I haven't been totally disgusted with what they end up getting.

As a PC gamer, initially I will not buy the game until at least 3 months passess. In a game with that magnitude, there will be many bugs in the first release. The first players will give the feedback to Bioware, and then they'll release a patch.

Hence my decision to switch to Xbox. I don't even know if my PC could handle ME3's graphics. this is probably the most epic game I will play and I want no problem whatsover. So I think I'm gonna order the Xbox version of Collector's edition.

I didn't know that! Man I had it on Amazon but I literally just changed it to the local game stop store today. Oh well, I had skyrim same day delivery, and while it was fast, I want my ME3 copy asap. Hopefully there's a midnight release at this particular game stop. Otherwise, I'm waking up early to be at the door right as it opens!

Oh, and yes, my pre order is collector's edition :P

In order to avoid the catastrophe that is going to be Origin and in order to continue with all my choices from ME1 & ME2 I preordered the xbox360 version of the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3.

The week after it was possible to pre-order. It will be the first physical copy of a game I've bought in over 6 years.
