personally, I don't know yet and will not know until I actually meet the ME3 squad. at the moment, overall I prefer ME1 squad to ME2

Love 'em both, but I think I'm "closer" to the ME1 squad than the ME2 one. Probably just because we've been bros longer. Come ME3, it'll all shift again.

As for favorite loadouts, can't say I have any. In ME1, I tend to bum around with the same two squadmates for the whole game, thanks to the stupid achievements and the compulsive need to keep the tech/combat/biotics bars even. In ME2, I have favorite squadmate combos for fighting specific enemies.

So it winds up looking something like this:

ME1 Infiltrator - Liara and Garrus/Kaidan and Wrex
ME1 Soldier - Tali and Liara
ME1 Engineer - Liara and Ashley
ME1 Adept - Tali and Ashley
ME1 Sentinel - Ashley and Kaidan/Wrex and Garrus
ME1 Vanguard - Wrex and Tali/Kaidan and Garrus

ME2 vs Geth: Tali, Garrus, Legion
ME2 vs Blue Suns: Garrus, Zaeed, Kasumi
ME2 vs Blood Pack: Mordin, Thane, Jacob
ME2 vs Eclipse: Kasumi, Miranda, Jack
ME2 vs Collectors: Thane, Mordin, Jack
ME2 vs Husks: Mordin, Samara, Grunt

Can't really answer this question being as ME3 isn't out yet. So far, I prefer the ME1 squad over the ME2 one but I enjoyed playing with both.

ME1: Kaidan-Ashley or Kaidan-Garrus
ME2: Garrus-Miranda-Legion-Tali
ME3: We'll see

My squad always depended on the difficulty I was playing at, class, and what I was up against.

Regardless, I still mostly drag Garrus around with me everywhere.

Overall I preferred the ME1 squad mates.

ME1: Ashley and Tali.
ME2: Tali and Samara/Zaeed.

I only used Zaeed cuz he seemed like the most similar to how Ash would play imo...>_>;;
Plus his red outfit was freaking awesome.

As for the core squad for the three games:
ME1: Ashley and whoever complements my Shepard best, skill-wise
ME2: Miranda and (Jacob or Jack or Kasumi)
ME3: (Ashley or Vega) and spoiler character, male, most likely

Well this assuming some people have read the leaks and know the squad for ME3. I just wanted to see which squad as a whole from each game people liked better

Hmm. Don't really care about Samara but without her - no Morinth. So yea, bring both back with LI options. Granted, the Morinth business is risky but ... you've gotta risk it to get the bisquit. Right?

My favorite squad was my ME1 squad -- Ash and Kaidan.

And since everyone's listing the squads they've used/will use...
ME1: Ash and Kaidan
ME2: Miranda and Kasumi
ME3: Kaidan and Vega (most likely. Kaidan definitely, I have to wait to see about Vega but I'm probably going to love him regardless of his personality, so...)

Geth: Miranda and Garrus / Miranda and Legion
Collectors: Miranda and Garrus / Miranda and Zaeed / Miranda and Thane / Miranda and Legion / Miranda and Jack
Miranda is a always (warp + overload + her passive is always well received).

And in ME3: Vega, VS and Spoiler character are the only ones that I'm planning to use.
