Overall, my favorite squad was definitely the ME2 squad. ME1's squad (except for Wrex) was particularly bland and there was quite a bit of power overlapping. ME2 didn't seem to rectify the blandness of most of the ME1 squad, but the squad powers were much more unique. Warp bombs FTW. Screw tech.

The overall cast of ME2 was best. More development, more reason for me to care about them.

That said, I tend to balance my 3-man team depending on the upcoming combat scenarios. However, I always, ALWAYS (ALWAYS AND FOREVER) take Miranda. Not only is she my favorite character (She's very well developed, it isn't just dat ass), but she also has a good variety of powers. I'll typically bring either Tali or Legion along also, AI Hacking is very useful with Legion.

Miranda- Heavy Warp, Area Overload, +Squad health
Shepard- Heavy Warp, Heavy Overload, Power Armor

Can't say anything about ME3 yet, but between ME1 and ME2, I liked the ME1 squad more. Of course the ME2 squad has characters I really like, but in ME1 I like almost everone in the squad :-)

For now, I prefer ME2 squad, because there 4 of my favourite squadmates (Legion, Mordin, Miranda and Garrus), though the gap isn't big with ME. In ME I have Garrus and Kaidan (6th favourite squadmate) and Wrex, which beats every other squadmates by large.

I have NOT read the leaks, so I have nothing to base this on, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the ME3 squad will end up being my favorite. Let's just say I feel it in my bones.

For now, that honor will go to the ME2 squad thanks to Mordin, Legion, and Kasumi.

And, uh... here's this:
ME1: Garrus, Kaidan
ME2: Garrus, Kasumi
ME3: Will likely be Garrus and Vega.

To directly answer OP, I like ALL OF THEM. ME2 had the best characters, but ME1 had the most 'together' feeling. And honestly, from what I've read from the script ME3 will be right up there*

* It probably doesn't help that I see the game as one singular entity. To me, I've never gotten the debate between ME1/ME2 unless we're talking combat.

Kind of hard to comment on a possible ME 3 team when the game isn't due out for another two months.  Perhaps I will have a comment once the game has been released and I can actually play with a few setups.

To date, my favorite teams are:

ME1 - Ashely and Liara
ME2 - Kasumi and Miranda
ME3 - The game isn't even out yet, why are we having this discussion?

ME3: Likely Garrus and Liara again, however Vega is growing on me, so I may swap him in for Garrus. Time after 09/03/2012 will tell all though . 

I just love the combination of ranged accurate firepower (Garrus, or possibly Vega) plus extra weaponry and biotics from Liara or Miranda.  


I can't see my LI Miranda coming back in terms of available squad status apart from a few certain situations, which sucks   - although I would love to see what BW have done in terms of LI confrontation, which for me will be Liara v Miranda which could get messy .

Varies. In ME1 it was mostly Kaidan and Garrus with Wrex as standby. In ME it tended to be Garrus with a variety of the others. Kasumi really grew on me in the last playthrough and Samara is looking good for the next one. I like Legion a lot but you get him too late in the game to enjoy the experience (I know you can get him earlier than I do but <gulp> I don't like losing anyone. I'm glad Kaidan is back for ME3. I can't see the Garrus situation changing so unless Kasumi and Legion are widely available, I think it might be back to the ME1 figuration (and I wish Wrex was back too because, if nothing else, I enjoy talking to him).
