Okay, so I accidentally deleted all my save files for Mass Effect 1 and 2 in my Xbox 360 in an attempt to transfer my files into a external hard drive. Long story short, I was in grief for a long period of time because I have invested so much of my time and effort for those games. I sold my 360 (it's the old white one that does those red rings from time to time) because I am reminded of the pain. Back to my point, as Mass Effect 3 is nearing and without my save files... I basically am going to start from the very beginning! Would it be adviseable to continue playing it on the 360 (buying the black one) where I have all the DLCs already? or just buy a PS3 and Mass Effect 2 and 3 since I heard that the graphics are way "better"? (I think there is an edition where all the DLCs are included).

If you play on PS3, you don't get ME1. That makes the choice pretty clear to me.

PC, if your system can handle it.

Get the 360 version again. There may be ME1 related things in there that won't get covered in the PS3 version due to not being in Genesis. For example, possibly no Conrad etc. Other minor stuff you did in ME1 you may miss out on. Plus by now you could probably get 360's a bit cheaper.

His opinion of Origin may also be a factor.

I suppose it depends on whether or not you want to play through through ME1. If you don't care for the choices you made in the first game and just want to get through ME2, then the PS3 version will probably serve you best with the included dlc, which I believe is all the way up to LOTSB, so no Arrival. The graphics are ok, not a major difference.

However, if it were me personally, I would go and get the new xbox. You'll probably end up wanting it down the line since the system has about 2 years left before the next generation, plus why let all the dlc you purchased go to waste? Plus you will probably get the most out of ME3 by playing both of the past titles.

Edit: I agree with Didy on PC.  It really is the superior experience.  Origin will be involved in ME3 though, so that could be an issue for you.  However, Origin may get worked on between now and then.  It's a tough call, but do what you think will serve your gameplay experience best and what you can economically handle.

I think the PS3 version of ME2 is slight better than the 360 version... the is some animations is the former that I have never seen playing the game on my 360, and believe me, I've played it A LOT.
.
That said, it comes down to whether you think playing ME1 is necessary, for the choices, I don't think it is. All the major ones are in the comic and the other have miminal effects in ME2, just a email or a cameo. What matters to me is the experience itself. Remember everything I did in ME1 makes my Shepards much more complete.
.
Well, if you are also considering PC, it got the best ME1 version by a far margin. But ME2 is pretty much the same as its 360 counterpart, mainly because it's a terrible port. But I would say it's the best choice... even if is just because of the superior framerates.

Both pale in comparison to the might of the PC, that aside, there is no ME1 for PS2, and not all the choices are covered in the Genesis comic. So if you want your ME1 stuff to count for little cameos and such all the way into ME3, I would suggest the Xbox one.

Why do people think graphic are the way to determin a games value?
Anyone remember Raz's hell? Horrible graphic, horrible controlls, but down right fun to play.

It was originally designed for the 360 as an exclusive and is still designed around a console platform. But the PC version can have better graphics and mods (If you have a rig that can handle it). I have them on 360 and I'd recommend it for that.

to OP:
Still no ultimate edition released. If you want to play the full trilogy you either stick with Xbox and buy a new one or choose PC. On PC the graphic is IMO better but anyways that depends on how much you want to spend for gaming because gaming on PC requires a good system which could be pretty expensive.

My personal suggestion if you do not want to spend a lot of money just buy a new Xbox considered that you already have the games there and the DLCs....just buy a new Xbox i have heard that the new slim versions are very reliable compared to the old model.

Yes, I do believe Origins was really meant for the PC because I really trashed that game to pieces when I first played it on the console. However, I think Mass Effect has been console friendly from the very beginning. You guys must think I'm such a fanatic now that I bought another copy Origins and Dragon Age 2 for my MAC plus all the DLCs just because I think that series deserves to be played on the PC to be truly appreciated.

There are 0 reasons to play Mass Effect on a console if you have a PC that can play it.

Xbox or PC. PC if your computer can handle it and want sweet graphics. Xbox if you like to use a controller or want no origin. PS3 doesn't have ME1 so I would't consider it the best choice with the Mass Effect series.

Okay, Xbox 360 slim is more reliable plus possibly cheaper? Hmmm... okay I guess I'm buying a new 360. Hopefully, it's true that there won't be any new console systems soon. I don't really care about those minor decisions but I guess I'm going to regret it when I get a PS3 because in the end I would have wanted to make the most out of it.

The new consoles are dated at mid 2013 at the earliest. So you have a while.

Conrad Verner, Gianna Parasini, I'm sure there is more. Can someone clarify?

You seriously don't know? Search for the Origin thread. It's locked now, but if you search Origin Required it should pop up.
