I think the PS3 version of ME2 is slight better than the 360 version... the is some animations is the former that I have never seen playing the game on my 360, and believe me, I've played it A LOT.
.
That said, it comes down to whether you think playing ME1 is necessary, for the choices, I don't think it is. All the major ones are in the comic and the other have miminal effects in ME2, just a email or a cameo. What matters to me is the experience itself. Remember everything I did in ME1 makes my Shepards much more complete.
.
Well, if you are also considering PC, it got the best ME1 version by a far margin. But ME2 is pretty much the same as its 360 counterpart, mainly because it's a terrible port. But I would say it's the best choice... even if is just because of the superior framerates.

Not nessecarily, some of those cameo's tied into assignments.

.
Such as? I'm not in the mood to think right now.

Conrad Verner, Gianna Parasini, I'm sure there is more. Can someone clarify?

BTW let's be careful not to derail this into an Origin thread. yesikareyes, what's your stance on the ME1 import cameos and assignments?

You seriously don't know? Search for the Origin thread. It's locked now, but if you search Origin Required it should pop up.

Okay, I'm going to check that out! I normally download from Direct2Drive and MacTree games and I have never had problems so far.

Not dragon age origins. Origin the EA software, (EA take on Steam)

Oh how, stupid of me! Why what's with origin?

I'm a PC gamer and trust me stick with consoles you will avoid a lot of problems. I regret having started this wonderful trilogy on PC but now i'm here so would not change at the end.
Gaming on PC was wonderful many years ago but now with DRM, Region Locks, internet connections required...Steam, Origin...is becoming an hell....when the next generations of consoles will come out i will switch to console too for gaming....you avoid a lot of problems trust me

Well, when I first heard that PS3 would have Mass Effect 2 without the first game... I was like what?? Then I heard about Genesis BUT it is very limited. Anyway, at first those stuff didn't really matter to me since I played Mass Effect 2 first because the guy from best buy told me this was an awesome game! (Why couldn't he give me the first game instead?). However, after playing both games I was slightly disappointed that I only got e-mails or brief cameos as a follow-up but each time I play ME1 I still play those side missions because even if they were only briefly mentioned in ME2... it's part of my experience playing different variations of Shepard's story.

There have been no issues with Mass Effect on PC in the past.  The only issue that may/probably come up is Origin.

I do agree though that the PC landscape in gaming (and the internet as a whole) is just deteriorating into a corporate playground, just like everything else.  Wish we could go back to the days where a game we purchased is a game we purchased.

Okay, from now on let's keep the Origin talk to the bare minnimum, we don't want to see anyone come in here and start raeging about Origin from what one of us has said.

I think I may hold out on ME3 until they port the whole series to the Wii U.

What if you have a
really big TV?  That seems to me like a pretty good reason.

I don't think 1 will be on Wii U. Being mircrosoft's child.

The PS3 version only has better graphics because it uses the same engine they'll be using in ME3. Also, the change isn't that much. If you already have the games and DLC's for XBox, stay with the XBox version. If you don't mind paying for the games again and have a PC that can handle the graphics while maintaining a steady frame rate, get the PC version. If you really only care about the slightly better graphics in ME2 and don't mind skipping the first game and don't mind playing on a controller that isn't as ergonomic as the XBox, get the PS3 version.

After Nintendo sold Rareware to Microsoft and the Conker IP with it, I wouldn't say it's impossible.  IP's changing hands happens from time to time.

If they still are.  Who knows what is going on with that system...

Don't get me wrong, I think the concept is cool enough.  But the name, everything being based off the Wii, only one Wii U controller per console with the rest Wiimotes, and what the price will probably be...could put Nintendo in a bad spot if handled poorly.

It will be, sooner or later. It is only in EA's interest to have full control over the trilogy. And after beta leak mess caused by Microsoft, they're in better position than ever to negotiate.

At the very least Ninty have said they are gonna get back into the hadcore gamer market with the Wii U.

Now let's get back on topic!
