Playing Adept/Insanity isn't hard, it's just annoying.

Shep getting up from out of cover when she asks Kasumi to cast Overload, for instance.  Gee, thanks.

Yeah it can be tough in the beginning. Get's easier with a few damage protection upgrades.

Shep shouldn't get out of cover when asking a teammate to cast a power. Don't know why he/she would.

Neither do I.  Died a few times doing this.

But back to the initial response - I'm not talking about difficulty.  It's actually rather boring and I'm not sure if I'm going to continue playing (so far I've only done Mordin's recruitment and Kasumi's loyalty mission.)

Early is bad for adept, so try and get past horizon before making a decision. Adepts really start coming around after the cooldown bonus and their powers progress.

On phone so can't edit.

My thread about gameplay videos has a link to my YouTube channel in which I am posting mostly adept videos, plus the good shockwaves thread has some fine and fun videos showing what adepts are capable of.

It may get "better" after Horizon but I have to get there first. So far I've died about seven times during the last part of Zaeed's loyalty mission before beating it/

I'm tired of Pull glitching and not working on unprotected enemies. Tired of my squad running far ahead of me and putting themselves right in the crosshairs of a Pyro. Tired of Shep deciding "cover" means "where the YMIR can shoot right at you." Tired of Garrus deciding not to use Overload when commanded. Heck, tired of the YMIR activating early once and attacking me along with a full contingent of Blue Suns.

It's not "hard" because that implies that you have to work really hard to win. In this case, it's just frustrating because I would have beat it the first time through if I didn't hit multiple glitches. I can deal with glitches on Veteran or below, but you can't glitch on Insanity and expect to live.

It's fake difficulty.

Bad thing about pull not working on unprotected enemies is they move and keep shooting at you, the good thing is they can still be exploded by a warp as long as they are glowing(I even got to explode a husk once).

Cover issue isn't just for Adepts, but they don't have a power that greatly reduces damage, like cloak, ARush, Tech Armor or Charge so it does hurt more. You have to learn what cover works and when to NOT be in cover but behind tall objects.

As far as Zaeed goes, there is a post on my channel of me doing Zaeed and showing how to make it easy.

Garrus and crew not doing what they should also stinks and in my first part of Thane video, I even had an issue where I posted text because of it. It happens but Adepts are about squad unity as much as raw power, so it seems to hurt them more than the more independent classes.

You can overcome the glitches on Insanity, it just takes more skill and work. I am sorry you aren't enjoying your play, since that is what gaming is all about. I would say again, try to get past Horizon, because it does get more fun. Please do look at the different videos to see how to get there and how an Adept can look.

OK, I'll give it a try. I would like your help in not getting killed at Horizon.

Do you favor Singularity level 4, or Warp 3 + something else at 2 (throw/pull/barrier)?

Singularity should always be at level four. Whether you prefer wide or heavy is subjective. I prefer heavy for the duration bonus, as I use it to hold down elites while I take care of the trash.

Singularity spam/bomb was my default tactic with AdeptShep. In fact I found bombing quite boring so I would just spam singularity as CC and then use it as shooting gallery.

Thanks. Who do you take along, out of curiosity? I'm thinking Miranda (with unstable warp) and Mordin (incineration blast.)

It's weird how the game glitches, on Korlus I had Miranda basically vanish for the last part of the fight before you reach Okeer. She was listed as alive, I could give her commands, but she wouldn't execute them. I still have no idea what happened. Kinda made it a pain since my other companion was Jacob. While I got creamed in one section fighting the Blue Suns (the 'ambush'), crossing the room with all the Krogans was trivial (Shep: Warp! Miranda: Warp! Jacob: Pull! All: Next!)

And somehow Mordin didn't get killed by That Pyro in the Archangel recruitment mission. Someone must have been looking out for me.

Did you put points in his passive? It makes him a tank. Mordin's a badass with it.

Of course, he's at level 2.  I may be able to up him to 3 now.

He's surprised me before, once (during my first Insanity run, as a Sentinel) I took him to the Derelict Reaper... he'll probably be coming along this time as well.

With my Adept? At least once shield stripper- Garrus or Miranda. Then the second depends on your playstyle/weapons load. I think early game I probably used Mordin or Grunt. Jacob's OK, but his pull is redundant and his ammo power is meh till you can get it to squad status.

The thing to remember is for unprotected enemies, pull is to be used to bomb and Singularity saved as a trap/hold for protected enemies. Also pay attention to your environment because there are a bunch of areas that you can simply pull an enemy and forget them, because they will float over a fall and die. To me this makes Jacob a really good squaddie for Grunt recruitment especially if you don't have pull yourself, all those guys on ledges can be pulled and basically forgotten(even the Krogan if you do it right).

Horizon with an adept I ran earilier.....

I just finished Horizon on my Adept.  I took Miranda and Kasumi.  It was tricky but I looked at AverageGatsby's Horizon videos and it made life much easier.

Made it past Horizon. Only really got slaughtered during the opening sequence at the transmitter with the Scion/Husk rush. Down to 2 medigel (mostly because Mordin/Miranda got too close to the Praetorian when it did the dance of death) but I made it!

Good job, let us know what you think when you get your 3rd biotic upgrade.

It is indeed much easier.  I've done three missions post-Horizon - Anomalous Weather, and both Samara/Thane recruitments.  Died once (stupid death fighting the gunship), haven't used medigel once.  Heavy Singularity really helps lock down most bosses - it is not just for sending people flying through it helps there too :)

Any critical upgrades to get before the Collector Ship trap triggers?  I was thinking of doing Miranda's loyalty for the SMG/medigel, and a heavy pistol upgrade for dealing with Harby.

I'd go to Tuchanka or grab Tali if you haven't yet. Tuchanka has Biotic upgrade+Shotgun upgrade. I think Grunt's loyalty mission gives you shotgun damage as well. I'm not sure what Mordin's does. Tali's mission has Assault Rifle damage IIRC.

You also need to decide what you are taking on the Collector ship for a bonus weapon class. If you are going shotgun the go to Tuchanka and try to do Grunt's loyalty, if you are going something else, then at least visit Tuchanka and get the purchase upgrades and pick Tali's or another that you like, maybe after buying at Tuchanka you hit Jack's loyalty for another biotic upgrade?

Basically now, you are pushing for levels to get your powers up to the upgraded versions, like pull to area and finish up Warp if you haven't as well as either Throw or shockwave.

Recruited Tali, did Jack's loyalty for the biotic upgrade, and bought an assault rifle upgrade - I usually go with sniper rifles but I think I will try ARs this time. Probably will grab the Mattock.

Now it's time for the Collector Ship. Looking at Average Gatsby's walkthrough, I've no idea how he seems to avoid taking heavy damage from the Scions.

There's several ways to cheese the Scions. The number one method would be Stasis a second before the platform starts moving. Dead Scion. You can also get the Scion to play with a combat drone, as I demonstrate here at 2:45

In reality though, if you don't poke your head out of cover it can't hit you with the shockwave. So move in when it fires the Shockwave, and return fire when everything seems safe. There's a rhytm to it that you can learn.

What training will you take? The Viper is a superb Scion-killer.

Otherwise, yeah movement is the key. Adepts are all about controlling the battlefield so be prepared to spam singularity, and throwing Collectors off the platforms is the easiest way to kill them.
