Well, i preordered it, im absolute happy with it and still travelling, solving the mass of quests, standing somewhere at the top of a mountain during the night watching the aurora.

Some people may say "its just Oblivion: Reloaded", your are right, but it seems that there are a lot of old-fashioned RPG Gamer that loved Oblivion how it was and love now the "Reloaded" Version.

Sometimes, you shouldnt kick over the sandcastle.

Good news :) Which would be nice is to know the evolution of their sales with all their games. To get an idea.

For example, Skyrim, compared to Oblivion and Morrowind, sells how many times more?

Yeah i guess it was the best game in this year (haven't played TW2, maybe it is better).
But tbh after playing it for 80 hours I am getting really bored of it.

From my POV DA:Origins was much more interesting. And Oblivion was better too.

Anyway I am glad the game is selling well.

Oblivion was old fashioned now?

Well, good for them. I expected as much, the forum was like a ghost town on the week of November 11th.

I'm in agreement with Tina Fey - Oblivion's a blast, but old-fashioned? Right...

As far as I am concerned, I try not to compare the games of bioware and those of bethesda because they are different types of games, but I also believe that bioware games are better for me in general.

DA2 is simply not up to Skyrim. What is striking however is the difference of perspective in many years;

I remember in the past there was no a single person who claimed that Oblivion was better than any bioware games.  Almost all complaining how it was crap.

These days I see a lot of people saying that Skyrim is better than DA2. ( a bioware game ) That view polarized is sign that things can change.

Dont know if i should call Oblivion old-fashioned or not. Just a look at the facts: Oblivion was released march 2006. Skyrim released november 2011, evolution of the graphic, an amount of quests like Oblivion had, if you knew Oblivion you find yourself comfortable in Skyrim.

My point is: It didnt change so much from its predecessor, and it seems that the success of Skyrim tells that Bethesda is right with their interpretation of the successor of Oblivion.

So, you are not impressed if 10 millions are shipped? Then you shouldnt be impressed when a game had nearby 5 million preorders.

Why, considering that's not the same type of situation. That's nearly 5 million possible purchases.

You are absolute right. Im not searching a discussion about which game is better. They are too different to be compared. Which is better cant be answered in a objective way, its just a personal decision of every individual.

I love DAO, hell, still playing it. I dont like DA2, sold it in months ago.

My point is: A old formula still works, even years later. I dont know if its nostalgica or if im just too lazy to get used to a new formula. Just speaking for myself.

Absolutely, i give you that. Its absolute possible that 5 million copies will stay in the shelves. Big win for future customers, they would have to lower the price to get it sold :D

Well Bethesda has been changing their formula just look at Morrowind to Skyrim. Elder Scrolls keeps losing more and more features and keeps getting streamlined. They have sold a lot and I really like Skyrim but if the next Elder Scrolls still uses the same engine and once again decides to drop more stuff for an easier experience then I'll just get Kingdoms of Amalur.

Know what you mean. There is always a personal limit where you define "how much streamline do i tolerate", same here. And to be honest: "Kingdoms of Amalur" and "Mass Effect 3" are on my "games to buy" list.

Evolution of series, new directions are a good thing, they arent always wrong or evil. But in my opinion its the wrong way to change the complete direction of a successor when the predecessor was succesfull on its own merits, the way it was.

But lets stop here, just wanted to point out: Skyrim 10 million copies shipped. Im glad it goes that good.

Pretty damn cool to see a single player RPG gain so much popularity.

COD eat your heart out.

Lol doubt it slim http://www.guardian....aks-1bn-barrier

At those numbers that means at least 16 million copies. Which shows I was right in when I said Skyrim would sell well but COD as always would be higher.

Though Skyrim has made an impressive showing, what I find neat is apperantly its Steams fastest selling title, while on consoles it has done pretty well for its self it showed a better selling among CRPGers, what I wonder is if this is showing a divergence among gamer culture as happend in the early 90's among PC and console users.

But Skyrim has beaten many other RPGs in sell numbers, hands down in many cases still far cry from Pokemon who's numbers scare me lol at 155 million.

huh... "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a third person action combat game set in a high fantasy universe" and it looks like Fable TLC?

I'm glad Skyrim is selling well. Might show some devs what is "improvement" over a previous title on the series, instead of rushed development with total change in art and not necessarily for the better.

Other than graphics can you really say anything you might have seen on KoA is anything like Fable? Because there really isn't.

This is True, its like going back to the 64 and saying Zelda and Mario are the same....and this makes me want to buy both games an a 64..

Ah well, as to Pokemon I wonder how many they are up to now like 500?

Mass Effect > than any TES game. Dragon Age may have gone to Hell but Mass Effect still looks as good as ever. In fact, Mass Effect 3 has even more leveling up and customization options than Mass Effect 2 now. So while Dragon Age seems to be getting down graded in the RPG department, Mass Effect seems to be going up. Once Mass Effect 3 releases, I'm pretty sure it will go back to people saying that Bioware games are better. I mean, ME3 is going to have awesome characters, an asorbing story and awesome gameplay with great role playing elements.

People still consider the best RPG's to be Baldur's Gate and Planescape. I've never seen Arena or Daggerfall mentioned.

@RageGT

Kingdom's of Amalur may have artstyle that is common with Fable but everything else is different. The combat is more challenging, there's a class system of sorts (destinies), the dialogue appears in a wall of text, it's open world, there's a crafting system, there's guilds and there's great customization of your character via statistics, abilities and loot. Fable? Fable 1 was an action-RPG and so was Fable 2 but from what I've heard of Fable 3, it's an action game with slight RPG elements and shouldn't even be compared to Kingdoms of Amalur.

If this was truly Oblivion 2.0 or whatever I wouldn't have bothered. While not perfect its a step in the right direction. There's some Morrowind feel to it that makes it better than Oblivion.
Whats funny is I haven't touched the damn game in over a week with just barely 60 hours in I just got burned out but I am fully aware that is my fault I just played too much of it too fast.
I know 60 hours is nothing compared to your 500 hours already but the best game ever would never get me to play that long so quickly.

I used to be the very best, like no one ever was... then I took a scratch in the knee. It was super effective.
